Qulnney has '234 points for the season to date as compared to 202 for Higinbotham and 201 for Palmberg. Quinney, however, has a one game edge over his competitors. Pel, guard Freddie -Biehn and forward Ray Taylor hold, tha 13th and 16lh spots respectively among the leaders. Larry Janssen and Clyde Mur ray are the leading Caver shoot ers. Janssen eighth with 123 to date while Murray is next with 105. Home Run Mark Looms At Wriglcy HOLLYWOOD (UPI) -r Gene Autry's horse champion didn't show up, but otherwise all the Hol lywood trimmings were on display Tuesday when the new Los An geles Angels of the American League celebrated the signing of their first player. Tha honored guests were a big man and a little one. The big man was Bob Cerv, who modestly said he didn't expect to break Babe Ruth's record for homers in Wrigley Field, where, the Angels will play. But left unsaid was the thought that a minor leaguer, Steve Biiko, hit 56 homers in the same park in 1957 when he was with the old Los Angeles Angels of the Coast League. Bilko's back with the Angels, but Tuesday was Cerv's and Al- bie Pearson's day. Tm sort of anxious to get going with the new organization," Cerv told about 100 sports writers while newsreel cameras clicked. "Sure I like the park. I've never played here but I was in a home run derby for television filmed in Wrigley Field last year." Tiny Albie, looking more like a jockey from nearby Santa Anita than a major league outfielder, then got on a chuir while he, Cerv and Autry, sans horse, posed with the caps and uniform blouses of the new club. Autry, who combines the job of singing cowboy star with that of radio and television executive and board chairman of the new club, was quick on the quip. When a voice in the rear asked, "who's your favorite cowboy ac tor?" Autry beat Cerv and Pear son to the punch by saying: ' If either one of you says Roy Rogers, you're in trouble." Cerv flew out from his Kansas City home for the ceremony honoring the first two players signed by the new club. Pearson saved the Angels money by motoring over from his home in Riverside, Calif., 60 miles away. The tiny Pearson, who stands 5 feet, 5tt and weighs 141 pounds, got in on the home run talk by admitting he once hit a homer in Wrigley Field while ha was with the old San Francisco club of the Pacific Coast League.
