Grange Gets

Garland Cundiff reported con
cerning a meeting in Alturas last
week in which renewed efforts to
promote the Susanville-Adin cut
off road were discussed.
The road is proposed as a link
to the Alcan Highway. He said
the expected $800,000 expenditure
might detract rather than add to
traffic on Highway 395.
He said a petition will soon
(ample taxpayer opinion concern
ing the road.
Members voted to conduct a
March of Dimes dance Feb. 25.
Master Claude Noble slate he is
in favor of grange backing for
a proposal under discussion in
Lake Counjy for establishment of
an obnoxious weed control district.
Maury Morton, president of
Goose Lake Sportsmen's Club, an
nounced that the club's card party
series will be conducted the first
and second Saturday evening of
each month, rather than every
two weeks as was reported last
week.
Carrol Mulkey was reported to
be confined to Lakeview Hospital
where hit condition is unchanged.
Members signed a greeting card
for him.
A card was also sent to Mrs.
Mildred Gentry, longtime grang
er, expressing condolences in the
loss of her home to fire.
Mrs. Amy Cloud served as sec
retary, replacing Mrs. Alice Al
len, who, with her husband, Bill,
left Friday for a month's vaca-
tion near Santa Rosa.
The meeting adjourned after a
