Master Alex Cammock presided. Officers, presented the flag and conducted opening drills, includ ing opening of the Bible. Earl Sheridan, grange insurance agent, Lost River Grange, was a visitor and spoke about grange insurance. All committee reports were deemed favorable. Members decided to conduct mortgage - burning ceremonies March 9, beginning with a 6:39 p.m., no ; host, potluck dinner. Grangers hope to invite Elmer McCIure, state grange master, to be the featured speaker during the event. Francis Flowers, Pomona Grange master, urged all mem bers to try to get some resolu tions introduced for actidn into the state grange. He offered help to those who need it. The Midland Juvenile GrangO matron announced a juvenile grange installation would be con ducted Saturday, Jan. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. Honorary members were invited to be present. Master Cammock appointed Kathryn Smith and Freda Flow ers to assist juvenile grangers; Alice Hoover as community sen ice chairman. Minnie Andrieu. wall chart chairman, and Lee Waresback, acting steward in the absence of Louie Stork. Stork is working at Oakridge. The master also asked all Mid land officers to be present for a special meeting Thursday, Jan. 5. at 8 p.m. to make plans for ths coming year's business and pro gram. During the' entertainment pro gram, Lecturer Mayme Cammock presented Chaplain Opal Wares- back, who recited a prayer. Gran gers combined for a "musical mixer" to get acquainted and all sang "Auld Lang Syne." All officers participated in a new year candlelight ing ceremo ny. A grange quiz followed. Mrs. Laura Walker won the prize. A reading. "Recipe for a Happy , New Year," followed. "Happy Birthday" was sung for Virginia Scala, Minnie Andrieu and Frank ie Flowers. Officers then retired the flag, closed the Bible and performed closing drills. Refreshments were served by Gertie Huff and Verda Orback. (l. MIDLAND HEC The new chairman of Midland Home Economics Club, Kathryn Smith, and a new staff of officers presided during a club meeting Tuesday, Jan. 2. Mrs. Florence McVaigh was a visitor. Eleven members were present. During the roll call, each member told where and how she spent her Christmas. The new yearbooks were distrib uted to all present and the chair man was complimented and' thanked for her work in making them. The meeting was opened with a prayer and scripture reading by Chaplain Laura Walker. A letter of greeting was read by Nellie Motschenbacher. a member who is visiting in Hawaii. Plans were outlined for thp by members. The chairman an nounced that, among dinners to be leaiured during the year, she fa vors serving a spaghetti dinner soon. She said she wmilH aim like to have a work day at the grange hall to sew new curtains and apro'is for the hall.
