ty, was the featured speaker at
the December meeting of the Mon
tague Parent Teacher Association.
Following the formal owning of
the session by l-ester Owens, pres
ident, Joey Weeks and Timmy
Morton led in the flag salute.
The Morlague School Glee Club!
sang three Christmas melodies
with Carolyn Havens as soloist,
under the direction of Barbara
Gratiot. Mrs. Susie Jones gave
the inspirational message.
Jess Brewer's talk w as devoted
mainly to the establishment of a
youth camp, and a brief discus
sion on the recently constructed
Graves Memorial Juvenile Hall.
He stated lie was deeply inter-
esled in seeing two or three coun
ties jointly sponsoring a youth
camp or farm for delinquent
youths.
Brewer also touched on the
problem of menlallv-ill or retard
ed children, stilting there was a
surprising number of these cases
in Siskiyou County in need of psy
chiatric care.
Members of Cub Scout Pack No.
51 of Montague, presented t h e
charter to Lester Owens for the
PTA, which sponsors the group.
Lester Owens, principal of the
Montague School, announced that
Mrs. John roster would start a
beginner's sewing class at the
Montague School, providing at
least IS poisons signed up. The
course would last 12 weeks, start
ing Tuesday evening, Jan. 31. It
will be given under the adult edu
cation program of the College of
the Siskiyous.
It was also announced Jhat If
enough women were interested to
make up a class, a 10-week cake
decoration course would be start
ed, beginning Feb. 1.
