This writer heard an interesting
conversation the other day con
cerning Oregon Tech. It started
when someone asked what things
would be. different in Klamath
Fails or in Klamath County if
there were no Oregon Tech. One
person said that it has often
seemed to him that every third
car on Main Street had an OTI
sticker on the back window and
that he practically never went
into a store without seeing some
OTI stude.it, faculty wife, or staff
member. A third party asked how
many persons connected with OTI
belonged to the churches, lodges,
clubs, and organizations to which
others of the group belonged.
Then somtonr more, mercenary
minded got started figuring finan
cial angles and the conversation
became too complicated and
lengthy to continue here. J
It did start this writer wondei-
ing how many people who are in
Klamath Falls now" are here be
cause OTI is here that is, as a
student, an OTI employe, or serv
ing oil in some other capacity.
How different would Klamath
Falls be now if in the last days
of the 1949 Oregon State Legis
lature the appropriation for Ore
gon Tech had failed as it ap
peared for awhilu that it might?
To get back to reality, that is
not our problem and there are
some other things that are.
It is anticipated that preliminary
plans for the first two buildings
to be requested for the new OTI
campus will be prepared by the

DAMAGE SUIT
There is a suit clalmina $250,000.00 damages pending against the District by the construction controclor. The records of the Dis

trict has withheld payment of $26,083.07 on the contract, in order to recover damages arising from the contractors operations. The

MILEAGE ALLOWANCES AND ADMINISTRATIVE EMPLOYEES' WAGES
Overtime for administrative employees is paid at straight time for hours In excess of 40 hours per week. Overtime Incurred is due
largely to tht customer demand that tht District keep its office open on Saturdays.
Mileage is allowed administrative employees at the rate of 10c per mile. Oregon low permits mileage ollowonces for directors but the
