The award is in recognition of many hours of service in the Church School and worship as well as many hours of study and other efforts in the church. The presentation was made by the Rev. Laing Sibbet, pastor. Dan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Ruzieka. Mission Is Haven For Homeless Men John Pedersen, superintendent ef the Klamath Falls Gospel Mis sion, in announcing plans for the observance of Christmas, drew at tention to the fact that "the gos pel mission is a haven of hope Inasmuch as man's problem's arc spiritual." "The ministry of the Gospel Mission is primarily a spiritual ministry. Although the men are fed, clothed and sheltered, they are not sent on their way without being told of the fact that the birth of Christ was brought about that God might reveal Himself to man and that' as man receives Christ as his personal Saviour, recardless of his past, he be comes a rew creature." He cited 1 Cor. 5: 17, "There fore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new." The superintendent reports "he has received Christmas cards from some of these men, once en slaved by habits, who are now living useful lives as good citizens. Christmas Services Bible Baptist Mr. Laki Two worship services are planned in the Mt. Laki Com munity Presbyterian Church for Christmas Day, the first at 8:30 a.m., the second at 11 a.m, Sun day School will meet as usual at 9:45. The Rev. Andrew -Jarvis will bring the message, "Eternity In vades Time," at both services. Virgil Yadon will sing "O Holy Night" at the early service. Hall of the Im manuel Baptist Church announces that there will be a combined Sunday School hour and worship service held in the sanctuary of the church at 10:30 a.m. Christ mas Day. , Assisting with the service will be laymen of the church who will speak on the subjects: "What Christmas Means To Me," "My: Most Imnressive Christmas." and 'What Christmas Can Mean for You." A story will be told for all the children of the Sunday School and carols will be sung. Pastor Hall invites the public to worship at Immanuel Baptist Christmas Sun day. A vesper carol sing will be held at the Bible Baptist Church, 2244 Wiard Street, Sunday, Dec. 25, at 5:30 p.m. Carol singing by the audience will be followed by the program which will feature a trumpet trio by Terry Cedarleaf, David and Danny Grimes; a violin trio by Sharon Pearson, Robin Dunn and Marsarette Allen, accompanied by Mrs. C. E. Kedfield; a woman's of Judy Mc- Farlan, Mrs. Bob Scoggins, Mrs Cliff Sanders, Verna Balzer. Mar tha Colt and Cheryl Sanders, and a vocal solo by Judy McFarlan. The candlelighted Christmas Eve service, starting at 11 p.m.. will be sponsored entirely by the choir to include Christmas read ings by the pastor, the Rev. M. A. McKinney, and Christmas music The informal service on Christ mas Day at 11 a.m. will follow a fellowship coffee hour in the church, starting at 9:30 a.m Zion Lutheran Zion Lutheran Church, Eleventh and High Streets, will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in serv ices on Christmas Eve and Christ mas Day. "The Blessings of the Christ Child" is the theme of the Christmas Eve service which will be held Saturday at 7:30. It will be a worship service for children and adults in which the story of the birth of the Savior and its meaning to people of the past and present will he narrated w hile colored portrayals of the events are projected on a screen. Chil dren of the Sunday School will sing in this service. Robert Rut- Iter will be narrator. Mrs. J. A. e r m a n Wolf are directing arrangements for the service. The Christmas Festival Service will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. Pastor Norbert Dey will deliver a Christmas sermon titled "The Christmas Glory that Centers in Bethlehem. A feature of the serv ice will be the responsive sing ing by the choir and the congre gation of Luther s narrative hymn, From Heaven Above. The choir director is Mrs. Clifford McGinty. ' Church Considers 77 For Special Scouf Award The Methodist Church has 11 boys who are candidates for the God and Country Award in the scouting program including: Phil ip Abbey, Robert F. Abbey Jr., Clifford Bennett, Roger Frei, James Plank, Roy Plank, Day C. Snyder, Duane Snyder, Larry Stokes, Cornell Tuter, and James Ross. This award is granted to First Class Scouts or Explorers, and is earned in three stages covering about a year of study and serv ice in five areas: Christian faith. Christian witness, Christian world outreach, Christian citizenship, and Christian fellowship. Study includes the learning of the books of the Bible, the Lord's Prayer, and various selected passages the Rpatittidcs: an un- LANGELL VALLEY -The Lor- HretariinB of the rites, ceremon- Sacred Heart Church was the scene of a ceremony on Dec. 18 in which the St. Pius X Medal for outstanding service in the Con fraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) was awarded to seven members of Sacred Heart Parish. The CCD, an organization for the religious instruction of Catho lic children, was founded in the Diocese of Baker in 1935 and this year on the occasion of its silver jubilee, His Excellency Most Rev. Francis P. Leipzig, bishop of Baker, has awarded the St. Pius X Medal to those who over a number of years have given great est service in the CCD as offi cers, teachers and helpers, seven workers were honored in Heart Parish including Mrs. Per cy Murray, Mrs. R, E. Hooker, Mrs. Paul Landry, Mrs. John Kennedy, Mrs. J. K. McAndrews. Mrs. Rose O'Lcary, Mrs. W. H. McCroskey. Making the presentation Rt. Rev. Msgr. T. P. Casey said he was delighted to see them receive some recognition for the many hours they had put into CCD work. He explained to the congre gation of over 400 present, that in CCD the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is far greater than the visual effort. He explained that the teachers must spend many hours in preparation for classes and in examining home work. The CCD teacher has been taken for granted too long, he said. He hoped, further, this would be an incentive to others to work for the good of the Confraternity whether as officers, teachers or helpers. He expressed the wislrmembers of the parish would that in the near future more qualify for the St. Pius X award. Temple Presents Cantata On Story Of Christmas On Sunday evening, Dec. 25, Beautiful Garden of Prayer," and at 7 p.m. Klamath Temple willlKay Parker a solo, "The Prodi- present an illustrated cantata with the choir singing, and colored slides dramatizing the entire theme. The cantata will be pre sented with the following theme in mind, "The True Story of Christmas," with several outstand ing scenes of Christ, and the ear Sacred ily days of ,he Holy Land- Mrs.ccding the cantata. The public it gal Son.' The choir will open the service singing "Tell Me The Story of Jesus," and will close with "Christ Receiveth Sinful Men." The entire story will be given in beautiful stereopticon slides from the creation to Calvary. There will be a short service pre- Mildred Strachan will narrate the story. Elvin Hess will have charge of the lighting effects and the showing of the colored slides de picting the life of Christ. The Parker Family will be fea tured and will sing during the entire cantata.
