Holiday Time Helpful Ideas BE A GOOD SKATE ine newest ice skating cos tumes are designed to skate on ice and break the ice as well, Short velveteen culottes and vel veieen Knee - iwinklcr jumpers premiere this year. Also spotlight ed are a long sleeved velveteen skating dress with fake ocelot panties, a plaid skating jumper and a felt Tyrolean jumper. Vi vid colors abound, with emerald, orange, purple and hot pink leading. There'll be no coaxing and ca joling the children to wash their faces and hands before holiday meals if you provide them with gay white terrycloth mitts cm blazoned with Santa's face. These color-fast mitts double as hand puppets when their soap and wa ter duty is done. Do your artificial wreaths and sm-avs and polnscttias iook too tired to use again this year? Trv sponging them with "dry' soap or detergent suds skimmed from the lop of the bowl, nils softens them, washes away the vear's accumulated dust, and makes them glisten agaui. Launder ribbons in lukewarm suds, and press under a layer ot wax paper. Turn a plain white cloth into something festive enough to grace the Yuletide board by using pink ing shears to cut brightly colored bus of clolh into ennstmas ae signs, such as trees, bells and stars. Thsn, dip these designs into starch and iron them onto the cloth hore and there. The starch and heat will com bine to make the colorful motifs adhere until you pull them off. When the holidays are over, laun der the cloth in plenty of hot soap or detergent suds and, presto, it s all ready again for plain, year round use.
