Friday, December t, WM PAGE S-B pses If A Y GEORGE BROUGHTON Missionary To Speak George Broughton, missionary and pastor of the Baptist Church in Urucui, Brazil, will speak at Immanual Baptist Church Friday, Dec. 9, at a 6:30 p.m. potluck dinner and missionary rally. He began his work in the small river town in the state of Piaui early in 1958. He and his wife found that Urucui had only a few minor in dustries, for the northeastern sec ton of Brazil is backward eoo i nomically. The majority of the people in the area depend on ; primitive agriculture for their ' livelihood. Drought has added to the problems. The members ' of the church 1 share the economic plight of their neighbors. Choirs Sing At Vespers Carols Across the World" will be presented at the annual choir vesper service at Peace Memor ial Presbyterian Church Sunday, Dec. 11, at 4 p.m. The three robed choirs, adult, junior and primary, will sing Christmas mu sic. The congregation will be in vited to join in the Christmas- carols. Mrs. Harold Lytle directs the adult choir, Mrs. Jack Wynant, the junior choir and Mrs. Bertil Shogrcn, the primary. Primary robes arc white with blue bows, junior robes are green and the adult navy. The Women's Association will serve refreshments in Westminpter Hall following the vesper music. TULELAKE - The Rev. Paul Pipkin will be present at the Tulelake Assembly of God Church for missionary services Friday and Saturday, Dec. o-io. for eve ning services at 7:30 and on Sun day for two services at U a.m and 7 p.m. He is' one of 735 Assemblies of God missionaries assigned to more than 60 countries who are speak ing in the United States. He will introduce his unique Asia Mission ary Radio Crusade. In announcing plans for his- appearance here, the Assembly of God pastor, L. A. Lawrence, said that Pipkin has served two full terms in the Philippines with the Far East Broadcasting Company as extension department director. inis department tuncuons on more than 40 islands with 800 ra dios tuned to the Christian radio station. Pipkin is the promotion al director for the mission's radin work in Japan at the present time. He will report that Japan has more radios than all the rest of Asia and the continent of Africa combined. He is endeavoring to give the people of the atom bombed city of Hiroshima a daily Christian broadcast. The crusade poal is to broadcast to 15 milliun homes in Japan. Synod President To Preach Here The Rev. Edwin Bracher, prcs! dent of Pacific Synod, United Luth eran Church of Americawill con duct the Communion service the morning worship hour at 11 o'clock Sunday, Dec. 11, at Hope Lutheran Church, South Sixth and Homedale Road. The Rev. Bracher has aided and assisted the church congregation for several months while the church is without a pastor. The congregation is awaiting answer to a call to a new minister.
