By Tom Jones Paint a round piece of heavy cardboard white on one side and red on the other. Have the players form two .teams, the Whites and the Reds, and line them up facing each other about a foot apart. Mark a line some distance behind each team to be its goal. Each player takes a turn tossing up the cardboard. If It falls with the white side showing, the White team runs to its goal, and the Reds chase them. Any Red who tags a White captures him for his team, and he's out of the game. The reverse is also true, of course, and the game goes on till there is only one team. Cat's Tail By Maude E. Hallmer For this amusing game, you will need two balls of brightly colored yarn cut into small pieces of different lengths. Each ball should be a different color. Hide the pieces of yarn wherever you can find a good place. Divide the players into two teams and give each team one of the colors to find. One player on each team is the cat a cat without a tail. At a given signal, the players start hunting for the yarn. When they find a piece of their color, they take it to their cat, who ties it together to form a long tail. Announce that you can tell the name of a card picked from the deck while you aren't looking or even while you're out of the room! Ask a friend to lift up a group of cards from the top of a deck and look at the one on the bottom of this pile. After counting how many down from the top it is, he puts these cards back as they were. He must remember the number and suit of the card (heart, diamond, spade, or club), as well as its position in the deck such as the sixth card from the top, 11th, 18th, or whatever it is. Then, he hands the pack to you. Leave the room now, if you wish, and start counting off the cards by putting the top one down first and those following on top of it. Count in this way to a number over 20 the bigger the better. Put the counted-off pile back on top of the deck. Ask the person to tell you how far down his card was, and you will show it to him. If he says, for example, the card was fifth from the top, you begin counting off cards starting with 6, or the number offer the one he mentions. Count up to the number you originally reached when you were out of the room. When you have finished, the next card in the pack will be the one selected'. Fool your parents with this.
