Li chens, spoke about the Connally Amendment and other matters vi tal to the protection of the United States. Mrs. Robert DeNure, chairman of American Indians, reported that four boxes of clothing had been sent. After the business session, an inspiring address was given by Mrs. J. Everett Barr of Yreka, PTA state chairman of home economics. It is Mrs. Barr's 21st year in PTA and she gave an overall picture of what local, dis trict, state and national branches are doing. Hostesses were Mrs. Phillip Mattos, Mrs. George Schrader and Mrs. Howard Simcox. EASY DESSERT Baked prune whip is an easy dessert to put together. It was reported lhat Ihe society had sold nine quills during the harvest season. It was voted to buy 12 quilt batts for future use. The allernoon following adjourn ment of the meeting was spent in cu'ling quilt blocks. Each member will donate two holiday-wrapped gifts to this proj ect and the boxes will be dis played in Barnett's window in downtown Dunsmuir until 3 o'clock on December 9, Members of the club voted lo support the project of the Cali lornia Federated Women's Club of ' supplying self-help to Latin America through CARE, the dis trict scholarship fund, the Pennies! for Pines and Penny Art. The club has traditionally -supported the Dunsmuir American Field Service program which brings a student from abroad each fall and sends a Dunsmuir student lo Europe in the summer. A local i project such as assisting in con struction of the community center or a beautification project will be decided upon at the Novem-I ber meeting. Senior Citizens Invited To Meet MOUNT SHASTA-George The bolt, president of the recreational district, and Mrs. Ann Worlhing ton, president 'of the Soroptimist Club, have issued a joint invita tion for a senior citizens meeting Sunday, November 13, at 5 p.m. It will be held in the city hall. A coordinated council will be set up to work out plans to carry on work outlined by Gov. Pat Brown at a statewide meeting in Sacramento October 3 and 4. Thebolt stated that there were so many ways lhat older people could aid the community if given the opportunity and encourage ment, it was a waste of talent not to plan to use these aids. AH are invited to attend and participate. Mrs. Stewart Chandler, presi dent, conducted the meeting which was primarily a business session. Letters of appreciation were read concerning the Shasta Dis trict summer conference at the Mt, Shasta Ski Eowi in July with Dunsmuir as the hostess club. Mrs. Rex Baymiller, a junior past president, was credited with much of the success of the confer ence. Mrs. Baymiller also served as chairman of the Bylaws Re vision Committee and recommen dations of this committee were accepted at the meeting. The garden section of Ihe club will make and sell Christmas wreaths to raise funds for com munity beautification, Mrs. Tom Shannon, garden section presi dent, announced. This section meets at 2 p.m. at the Hotel Dunsmuir the first Tuesday of every month. Mrs. Chandler announced her theme for the year will be "Un selfish purpose fulfilled through unity and cooperation." She said her project will be increased membership because she has found the objectives of Ihe wom en's clubs so worthy. Mrs. Har old Baughman was named mem bership chairman.
