WOODARD III Photo by J. O. McKinney . Daily Walk . Is Beauty Aid : By ALICIA HART ; . NEA Brauly Editor , " Walking regularly is an excel lent way to tone muscles, and the fresh air will put sparkle in your eyes and a youthful glow In your cheeks. The right way to walk is brisk ly, but not at a breakneck pace. When you walk, walk in beauty head high, chin straight, arms twinging freely. Be graceful about it, though. You're not com ; peting with the army. " To achieve a pleasing walk, it's necessary to wear the proper shoes. Foot specialists recom mend leather-soled shoes with : broad flat or low heels. The lea- ther sole is light in weight and ; resilient enough to bend freely with the movement of the font mucles. The effect is to cut down tatigi in your feet and legs. 'It you plan to visit or shop ' during your walking tour, you can choose from a variety of dressier walking shoes with low to mid , heels in a myriad of attractive ' si vies. Beautiful walking shoes ; are plentiful this year, with the " return of the .stacked leather heel. These heels don't have to . look broad. Clever design curves the heels in so that they look . much more slender than they really are. Should you find il difficult to get out of the house for your daily walk, try to find a few min- utes for some simple exercises designed to strengthen and tone I up foot and leg muscles. . Stand in your bare feet and - rise up and down on your toes 25 to SO times. Or try transferring " a pencil back and forth from Mhe toes of one foot to the ' other. Whatever you do, don't make . the mistake of wearing worn-out shoes or flimsy slippers around the house while you work. This kind of sloppiness can cause ex treme fatigue at the end of a day. Wear sturdy low-heeled shoes ar housu slippers with firm lea ther soles, and you'll find that you're much less weary come evening. You'll look a lot neater, 4oe, EYES HAVE IT The eyes have it this season. Subtle emphasis is accented dur ing the davtime, and, after dark, almost anything goes. One kit, which contains everything needed for eye beauty, even includes a tiny washable "pallette" for blending colors.
