(Vl'l - lention turns to the many serv ices the city library offers the community. The library not only is a place of quiet recreation for students and readers. It is a source of in formation and reference for the inquiring mind, the young peo ple doing research, and the gen' era! public. The city library has a large selection of magazines for read ers of all ages. The magazines are used for reference work, for aiding the gardener, the home maker, the sportsman, etc. They contain countless topics of gen eral interest. The cily library also owns a fine collection of recorded music lor loaning purposes, a ceiling projector with film strips for the bedridden, and a "talking hook" for the blind. During summer an extensive reading program is sponsored by the city library lo encourage youngsters in the first six ele mentary grades lo continue read ing during vacation. This service has been accepted wilh cnlhusinsm by children, par ents and teachers. It provides imusemcnt as well as knowledge. Many youngsters, esjwcially first and second graders, forget a great deal of what they have learned, during vacation time, j The summer reading program keeps their minds attuned to the' study habit.
