Phone Company Reports 1 ' ' j The Pacific Telephone and Tele graph Company described 1959 as "A Year of Progress in Us an Dual report released today. A gain of 509,000 telephones made during the past year was topped only by the 513.000 record ed in 1958. The company reported gam of 173.000 extension tele phones and 550,000 color sets. To tal telephones in service at year's end approached 7.5 million. Long distance calls ran morej than 12 per cent above 1958.
