Mazarna Toastmistress Club speech contest is Eve Morey who gave a humor ous approach to "Your Neighbor's Keeper." Alternate winner was Edna How ell. Next phase of the contest is at council level with clubs ' from Klamath Falls, Medford, Grants Pass and Crescent City competing March 20 in Medford. Your chances to find one arc fairly good in California, accord ing to a survey of pleasure horses just completed by the California Outdoor Recreation Committee. WANT TO LEARN TO DRIVE? Phone TU 4-7690 The survey, which took about two months to complete, counted 267,326 horses for California's 15 million persons to ride. It was a tough job. "We spent about 7,885 hours counting the horses used for pleasure in California," said Don Lawyer, a state recreation planner. 1 How was it done? Only the pleasure horses were counted. The committee did not count show horses, racing stock or work horses. But survey members did count a work horse if he also was used for riding.
