James Altar Society of Bly will hold its first money making pro ject for the church on February at when members will sponsor a ham dinner at the Bly school cafe-j tcria from 4 to 7 p.m. Price lor the dinner will be $1.50 for adults, 75 cents under 12 years ol aue. and pre-school children free. Money raised from this project will be used toward purchasing a statue for the new church which was dedicated October 11, 1959. Bonanza Parents and Patrons will meet in the school auditorium at 8. p.m. February 24. Carrol Howe will talk on the school budg et and there will be musical se lections by Linda Holt and Jan ice Burk. Mrs. Olive Fraley's sec ond grade will have a doll show. Refreshments will be served. Frank McFall, Grcenview, re turned home from the Siskiyou County General Hospital at Yreka, February 17. It was thought the fire was caused by a heat lamp in the barn. The barn was destroyed. Merrill Fire Department answered the call at 3:40 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Banister and daughter, Candace, and Bill Plumb, all of Paisley, and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Pauck, Lakevlew, were guests of their sons at Dads' Weekend festivities at Southern Oregon College last weekend. Ted Rowcliffe Jr., Idaho Falls, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Rowcliffe Sr., of Langell Valley. Mr. and Mrs. James Walker and daughter, Wylie, Merrill, are va cationing in Texas and other places ot Interest. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Etna, fell last Thursday and severed an artery in the same wrist she fractured recently. Mr. and Mrs. Don Fitzgerald and four daughters of Plush were last Sunday guests of the Jeremiah O'Leary family at Summer Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Harry "Skip" llanna, Etna, are the parents of a hoy born February 15 at the office of Dr. G. P. Ashcraft in Etna. Mrs. Verretta Crosby, For est Grove, Is the maternal grand mother and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jorgen Daniel son of Etna. Iloinrr Whipple' grass fire got nut of hand last Monday and the Fort Jones fire truck was called to put out the blare. Fort Lewis, are the parents of a girl born February 14 at the office of Dr. G. P. Ashcraft in Etna. She has been named Terri Gayle and is the couple's first child. Mr. and Mrs, Boyd Claggett and family have returned to Summer Lake from a two weeks' vacation in California with relatives. They will leave February 22 for Port land and Salem. Their son Casey, will see an eye specialist. Mr. and Mrs. John Manncrine Chiloquin, recently attended the Copeland Yard Convention at Portland, an annual event. Mr. and Mrs, Russell Furring ton, Callahan, are on a guided tour of southern Mexico. Their son, Stephen, and his wife are In charge of the Farrington Store and the Callahan post office. Mrs. Loralne Starr, Portland, is home for 10 days visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lewis, at Mount Hebron. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson Paisley, have moved to Oklahoma to a new job. Mrs. Johnson is the former Garnet Blair, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill O'Con- ners. Her husband is the son of Mrs. Helen Whitwell, all of Pais ley. Mr. and Mrs. James Parham and daughter, Cindy, recently vis iled Mr. and Mrs. Basil Walker at Greenview. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ernest at Yreka, former residents of Green view. They returned to their home at Modesto February 14. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bergsnyder, Callahan, have sold their ranch to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson of Ana heim. The Johnsons will take pos session in the spring. Strout Really handled the sale. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Cannon and family, Summer Lake, were guests of the Fort Rock Grange at its regular session last Satur day afternoon. Glenn Studiman, Bly, will be caller and give instructions at a beginners' square dance class Tuesday, February 23, at the Mer rill Recreation Hall from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Anyone interested is invited. For information call Merrill 2362. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gift have returned to Langell Valley from a short trip to Ontario. Ronald Kctchuin and Carolyn Modien, Redding, spent the week end at Bonanza with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ketchum. Mrs. James Baxter, Merrill, Is visiting in Las Vegas with her family. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mulkey, Plush, visited at Paisley last Mon day. He is driver of the Plush- Lakeview stage. Bradley McMilan left Etna last Wednesday for Ashland to visit his uncle before leaving for Pasadena where he plans to stay indefinite ly. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Whipple, Greenview, will have as house guests February 22 and 23, Mr. and Mrs. Russcl Winn of Med ford. While here, the Winns will make tamalcs in the Tamale Kitchen of Mrs. Whipple to take home with them. Joyce Parks, Quartz Valley, an elementary school teacher at Ga zelle, spent last weekend in Stockton at the home of her sis ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weber. The film was made in India and depicts many of the age-old customs in a non-Christ ian civilization. The film, released by World Vis ion, recently won first place in the documentary division of the Wi- nono Film Festival, an internation al competition for religious films. The public is invited. Boy Scout Sunday Families and friends of the Con gregational Church joined with fam ilies of Boy Sqout Troop 77 and Cub Scout Pack 77 Sunday, Febru ary 7, in observance of National Boy Scout Sunday. During the morning worship service charters of the two groups were presented by Dick Wyatt, Modoc Area Council representative and accepted by Cliff Kenyon, In stitutional representative. Kenyon introduced Scoutmaster Ted Co- ker; Cubmaster Emmitt Tucker, Den mothers Joan Aschenbach, Louise Mitchell and Dorothy Young, Committeemen E. A.
