International Or der of Job's Daughters, held a public installation of officers on New Year's evening. January 1, at the Scottish Rite Temple, with Honored Queen Penny Preston pre siding and as installing officer. Many friends and relatives were welcomed by Natalia Reichenberg, guardian, and Larry W h y t a 1, associate guardian, as they opened (he ceremony. Honored Queen Penny extended her thanks to both guardians for their help dur ing her term and presented them with gifts. The temple room was decorated ir. pink and gold shades with ar rangements of pink roses about the hall and forming a background for liie East. Impressive candlelighting by Jean Bispham and Tamnia Mitch ell lighted tapers in the west end of the hall, with a special cere mony of carrying and placing the Bible and crowns performed by Marie Rozum, Marian Rozum and Ronald McGill, all cousins of Ihc incoming queen. T Entrance of a large choir preced ed the march of elected officers, and after the seating of the choir, each officer lighted a pink light on a large white cross mount ed near the east, as they took their chairs for installation. Past Honored Queen Penny pre sented the pins to Honored Queen Patricia after which a bouquet was presented from her moth er and father. The honored queen extended her appreciation and thanks to the bethel and officers, after which she introduced her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Anderson She also introduced her grand mothers, Mrs. F.dward Rozum and Mrs. John Anderson; Mr. and Mrs. Max Rozum, Mrs. Leonard McGill and son Garry, all rela tives present for the occasion, Many presentations were made by friends and by Fanny Mae Thompson, Order of Amaranth, and Ruth Rodenberger, Order of the White Shrine. After the ceremony members and guests were received in the dining hall, transformed into lovely pink garden, with decora tions of glittering stars, stairways on the walls, spheres, fountains and "poodle trees" a background for the formal dance with the theme "stairway to the stars.' The Glenn Fox Trio furnished mu sic for the dancing party which was enjoyed by many girls and their escorts. The refreshment table was deco rated with a large floral arrange ment and a pink and white queen's cake. Coffee was served by Mrs Ruth Mussleman and punch by Carolyn Osborn, with the refresh ments by Mrs. Virginia McClure and her committee. Janet Hall Heads Chiloquin Lodge CHILOQUIN "King Neptune's Paradise" was the theme of the installation of Janet Hall as wor thy adviser for Assembly of Rain bow for Girls No. 70 at the Chilo quin Masonic Hall Saturday eve-l ning, January 16. She was crowned by George Howe, master council or, for Lost River chapter, Order of DeMolay. Installing officers for the event were past worthy advisers Janet Clark, chief officer: Claudia Heg- lund, marshal; Diane Kircher, chaplain; and recorder Sandra Haas. Guest Agatha Di Ulio was installing musician. Two clever addendas were pre sented, the number one hit song "Running Bear" dedicated to the outgoing number one adviser, Di ane Kircher, and a family life skit dedicated to Janet Hall. Entertainment for the evening consisted of piano solos and a duet by Sally and Susan Lange, and violin solos by Charlene Cordcs. Kenneth Bley presented past chancellor pins to Carl Hovcy and Russell Smith. Mrs. Irene Willen brink was presented the past chief's jewel by Mrs. Ruth Bar nett. Mrs. Ruth Armstrong sang, "Hitch Your Wagon to a Star," during a skit accompanied by Mrs. Helen Penney. Mrs. Doris Robinson arranged the skit, and others participating were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Ager, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Wes McMillan, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robinson, Mrs. Dorothy Bishofberger, Warren Smith, Mrs Ruth Rider and Al Glutsch. The lodge room was decorated in the Christmas theme with Queen Susan lettered across the window draperies in the east in honor of Susan Moss. Mrs. Marie , Johnson was in charge of the decorations. PTA NEWS M1LI.S.PONDEROSA Mills-Ponderosa PTA held a par ents night meeting on January 13 the Mills School Auditorium. Kristian Gippo's string orches tra and Mrs. Robert Craig's girls' nsemblc entertained with several numbers. Mrs. vera l'ropst gave a very interesting inspirational opening entitled "Birds in Tree Three. After a brief business meeting presided over by Mrs. Shirley Ec- ties, president, Mrs. Dorothy Nor- ris. program chairman, introduced the guest speaker, Forrest Haw- ley.- His very enlightening subject was "What is your I.Q.?" The flag salute was, led by fifth grade Girl Scouts, Troop 74, der the supervision of Mrs. lone Lundhcrg. Refreshments were served by the second grade mothers in the cafeteria following the meeting Tables were decorated by Cub Scout Pack 77, Den 1. RIVERSIDE Riverside School PTA honored various groups of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at its January meet ing held in the school cafeteria. Mrs. Winnie Scholcr introduced each group. The groups included Mrs. Delores Balcom's Bluebirds, M-s. Martha Steam's Brownies, I Mrs. Florence Carter's Cub Scouts of Den 4, Mrs. Martha Cherry's Bluebirds, Mrs. Adolph Zamsky's Camp Fire Girls, and Mrs. Gail Brotherhood's Girl Scouts. Danny Strombough represented his Cub Scout group, Jimmy Brown spoke for Mrs. Wilma MacFarland s Cub Scouts, Judy Nicholson for Mrs. MacFarland's Girl Scouts, and Danny McKinney and Ronnie Wil liams were there for Mark Car man's Boy Scouts. Group mem bers told of their activities at the present time. The business meeting was con ducted by Mrs. Delores Balcom, vice president, in the absence of Mrs. Julian Ecclcs, president. Don Golding, principal, who told the members that civil defense blanks taken home by students are to be filled in and returned to school. The test evacuation is hoped to be in May with Riverside participating. Mrs. Orson Stearns announced the plans for a golden anniver sary celebration to be held soon after the weather permits easy (raveling. All those who have at tended Riverside School are invit ed and urged to attend. Plenty ot adance notice will bo given. Riv erside has been in active use 50 years next September. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. MacBeth's third grade room mothers. Flag salute was led by Janice Whitniire, Danny Strom bough, and Judy Nicholson. Next meeting will be the Founders Day meeting in February. Room count was won by Mrs. MacBeth's third grade and Mrs. McCoy s combina turn sixth and seventh grades. Delta Kappa Gamma Luncheon Hostesses Hostesses Velma Tenncry, Geral- dine Owsley, Marguerite Parker, and Florence Oilman arranged a delightful luncheon meeting in the Pelican Party Room, Saturday, January 9, for the Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and theirj guests, the local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. Each group held its own business meeting and then both convened for a joint social hour, program, and luncheon. The program, arranged by Helen Hoffman, was a comprehensive book review of Wallace's "Square Pegs m Round Holes." This was done by Lucille O'Neill to the de light of all her listeners.
