By what stan dards are you and I considered a Christian or a non-Christian? Many times we are judged by the regularity of our church attend ance, by our contributions and oth er such things. These are import ant, but they are factors, not stan dings. The early disciples were called Christians because they were fol lowers of Christ. If we study the four gospels we find that Christ, both in his example and his teachings, gave lessons often on personal development. He taught of love, of humility, faith, service to God, and reverence. Can any rites designed by a church or God himself make us Christians if we fail to attain these qualities? If wt are humble people who love our fellow man and are striving hon estly to serve our God then church attendance will be not the end but the beginning of a continual quest lor acceptance in the eyes ol God. It has more drama than a month of Perry Masons. The protagonists are well cast There is the smooth, urbane Dr, 11. Bernard Finch, listening in tently to the testimony and break ing into a toothpaste - ad smile when a witness utters some un conscious humor. During the re cesses, he talks to newsmen with the geniality of a physician an swering questions about flu symp toms. Sharing the defendants' table is Carole Tregoff, young, buxom, red-haired. The state has por trayed her as the doctor's mistress and co-conspirator in the death of his wife. The legal battery is imposing Defending Carole are Rcxford Eagan, with the look and pugna city of a pro football tackle, and young Donald R. Bringhold, with whom she often confers. Dr Finch receives the counsel of Grant Cooper, equally urbane and ingratiating. The state's case is being present ed with vigor by Dep. Dist. Attys. Frank N. Whichcllo and Clifford Crail, both bald and distinguished, both bristling with outrage for the acts they claim the loving pair committed. Crail is especially ready to snap back at the defense attorneys, accusing them of trying to scare the state s witnesses. Adair's Fumiftyire More Drama courtroom cast Is Superior Judge Walter R. Evans. A big man, es pecially imposing as he strides to the bench in his black robe, he reminds one of Sen. Estcs Kefau ver. He has the height and long face of the senator and the same calm, deliberate manner of speak ing, though without the bucolic overtones. No one is fooled hy his gentle approach, however, his stern look quickly indicates he is a no-nonsense kind of judge, and he can deliver decisions with whiplash style.
