PAGE EIGHT Loses Loot To Boot Folley Hospitalized; Tonsils, Not Machen SAV FRANCISCO (API No. 2 ranking Heavyweight Zora Folloy, who kept his word and a secret as he iabbed out a clear-cut vic tory over Eddie Machen in a lack lustre battle, today hopes for a title shot against Ingemar Johan sson. "I beat Machen before and I'll beat him again," the 27-year-old Follcy from Chandler, Ariz., vowed before he climbed into the Cow Palace ring for his 12-round return match Monday night. Their first meeting ended in a con troversial draw in April 1958. The 194-pound Follcy was so sure he could beat his 199-pound opponent from Portland, Ore., that he kept secret his troubles with ailing tonsils. The tonsils probably will come out Thursday in Phoe nix, said Manager Bill Swift. Machen, an 8-5 favorite despite his No. 4 rating, look a financial beating too. It cost him about $270 to box the 12 rounds. His manager Sid Flaherty signed a contract for 60 per cent of the net gale then guaranteed Follcy $15,000 win. lose or draw. The net gate for the non - televised fight totaled $24 548.86 and t0 per cent of that is only $14,729.32. Machen had lost just once be fore in his 33 previous fights a one-round knockout when Johans ton connected with his right in Sweden a year and a half ago. .Monday night's fight brought re peated boos from the crowd of 6,447 and frequent warnings from referee Vern Bybee to step up the action. Policy's jab kept Machen off balance throughout. Occasionally he followed with crisp right hand Otpnpia Brtumg C.,Olympie.H'alh..VS.A. In the ninth, Machen suffered a slight cut near his right eye. Eddie also had a small bruise un der his left eye and Follcy was bruised over his right eye. Otherwise the fighters weren't marked and there was nothing close to a knockdown. Referee Bybee scored the bout 118-113, Judge Matt Zidich 117-114 and Judge Fred Bottaro 119-114, the same as The Associated Press. Both Folley, who won victory No. 50 against 3 losses and 2 draws, and manager Swift called for a fight against Johansson. Sugar Works In Window BOSTON (AP) Sugar Ray Robinson scheduled another de partment store window workout today for the March of Dimes as well as for his 15-round fight Friday night against Paul Pen der. Sugar went through a brisk drill Monday in a first-floor display window of Raymond's Department Store and at least 1,000 persons caught a glimpse of him. Noticeable to the ring fans were the many left hooks thrown by Clarence Hinnant. Washington, D C, light heavyweight who is Rob inson's sparmate. A left hook is a favorite punch of Paul Pender, 10th ranked mid dleweight contender, who will try for Robinson's share of the mid dleweight championship Friday night.
