Heiress Sees Brother Doug PARIS (APl-Douslas Benedict. 21. brother of runaway American heiress Gamble Benedict, 19. flew into Paris today in an effort to set his sister to come home to New York. Douglas, a private on leave from an artillery outfit in West Germany, has held frequent tele phone conversations with his sister since she ran off with Romanian born Andre Porumbeanu. The girl insists she will remain in Paris and marry Porumbeanu when he gets a divorce. Benedict was met at the airport by Robert Hoffman, the family lawyer who flew to Paris from New York last week to investigate legal possibilities on forcing Gam ble to return to the United States. The girl has refused to sec Hoff man. Miss Benedict and Porumbeanu are staying at the apartment of a Romanian born lawyer, Jean Cosacesco, whom they described as their adviser. They also have hired a French legal firm. So far there has been no sign in Paris of Porumbearu's wife. Helmar. She and their 10-year-old daughter were listed as missing Saturday by New York police. The other professor is Dr. George H. Mickey, 49, suspended dean of the Louisiana State Uni versity Graduate School. Dr. Mickey, married and the father of two children, has been charged with the slaying of Dr. McMillan, his friend for several years, who taught at LSU's New Orleans branch. Defense lawyer Robert Klein peter said there was no possibility of a love affair between the two. "It was a close relationship be tween two scientists," he said. "Favrot is talking through his hat." A few hours before Dr. McMillan died of 13 blows on the head, she drove into a service station with a man to buy gas, according to James S. Vcrsen, manager of a station near the front gate of the LSU campus. Verscn is the last person known to have seen her alive. He said she and a man drove into his sta tion between 6:45 and 8 p.m. Jan. 9. Her death was placed at 12:45 the next morning. The day after Mickey's arrest. Favrot said the dean was arrested when the state found his alibi for the night of Jan. 9 was without foundation. Also, Favrot said, "spots of fresh human blood of the same type as that of the deceased" were found on Mickey's car. Dr. McMillan owned a foreign car. Her body was found beside the auto near the Baton Rouge campus. Verscn said Dr. McMillan was driving an American car when she came into his station. He said she paid for the gas with her credit card and signed the bill. He said he had waited on Dr. McMillan twice before when she was driving her foreign car and recognized her by "her smile and her glasses." Albert Kober, owner of the sta tion, told reporters he did not know who the man in the car wag and neither got out of the car. Mickey has maintained his in nocence and insists he knowj nalhing of the slaying. Dr. McMillan, a native of Evanston, 111., met Mickey when he was a professor at Northwest cm University about 10 years ago. N. J. Rosenbaum INCOME TAX CONSULTANT Commerce Bldq. 11 I 1 Wolnut Ave. Ph.
