In making the presentation of a 400-day clock, Agency Manager - Harold P. Jack L. Smith, Navy seaman, returned to Pearl Harbor recently aboard the escort destroyer Rad ford after a six-month tour of duly with the Seventh Fleet in the Far East. Weed Control i Meeting Set TULELAKE Leading weed au . thorities of the state will discuss various phases of weed control at ; the annual California Weed Con- ' ference. This is scheduled to begin in the Sacramento Memorial Audi- " torium the afternoon of January 19 . and extend through January 21, re ports Ken Baghott, Tulelake farm adviser. : The conference will open with a welcome by President C. Bruce Wade of Redding, followed by a .report of the activities of the Weed Control Committee of the State ! Chamber of Commerce. ; Weed control experts also will discuss new developments in herbi ' cides, weeds in forest plantings, . field observation with wetting : agents, and secondary weed invasions. The following day, regulatory considerations in weed control will be presented by a panel. Registra tion requirements for herbicides : will be discussed by representa tives of the California Department "of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. ' A highlight of the meeting will be the report of the research sec tion. Another high point will be the Wednesday evening session on "What's New in Weed Control." Sandmcyer will represent inde pendent agents of the Second Con gressional District of the 13-mem-ber governing body of the state organization. Sandmcyer,' who recently cele brated his 21st year as a Klamath Falls agent, is a past president of the local 20-30 Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce and YMCA board. He served also as president of the Oregon State Junior Cham ber of Commerce, and was named Klamath County's Junior First Citizen in 1944.
