NEW YORK (UPI). Charles
Van Doren, who lied to a grand
jury about his participation in a
rigged television quiz show, be
came a' grand juror himself
Wednesday but only for seven
hours.
The 33-year-old, curly - haired
former English instructor was
chosen to serve on a federal
grand jury when his name was
pulled from a hopper. He was
sworn in.
Seven hours later he was ex
cused from serving at his own
request and to the relief of the
court and the Department of Justice.
Van Doren had won $129,000 on
the defunct quiz show "Twenty
One" and had claimed before a
New York County grand . jury
that he had not received either
questions or answers in his ap
pearances. Later he recanted and
admitted he had been coached.
He said he requested to with
draw from the federal panel be
cause of the publicity after it
was disclosed he had been chosen.

Price also said the club can use
donations of arts and crafts equip

Southern Pacific track foreman

An autopsy would show no un
