PACE THIRTRKN
SCttJKS
JEWS,
VIEVS
By TIM MASON
The latest teen-age craze to hit
KU struck last Monday, trig
gercd by the statement, "May I
borrow a dime?" After the dime
was handed over the student who
loaned the money was handed
note which read, "You! have just
bought a 10-cent investment in a
Davy Crockett mule and you are
. advised to get on the ball and get
your dime back as I did. .
No one knows how many of these
Investment notes were circulated
and neither does anyone know who
ttartcd to circulate them.
At any rate the students are wise
and the game is over. The poor
guys who are stuck with the notes
may be a dime short, but they
have gained a lesson in loaning
money.
Certain necessary steps Were tak
en by the faculty during a Wednes
day night meeting to cope with
the problem of a recurrence of
the incident during the after-game
dance on December 18.
Principal McKinny stated Thurs
day morning that the after-game
dance scheduled for next Saturday
night has been canceled as a result
of the faculty meeting. He also
said that the faculty will work with
the Student Council, to work out
tome better arrangements for the
dances. The next dance may be
January 23.
D-Day is fast approaching for
KU students as they are begin
ning to feel the squeeze at the end
of the first semester of school and
semester exams next week. Some
students will drop classes and oth
ers change their schedules. Wen
dell Smith, registrar, and his as
sistants will work with fury to meet
these changes.

Tries Again
NEW YORK (UPI) - Playboy
Tommy Manville is 65 but he
hasn't been able to kick his old
habit.
He and his 20-year-old fiancee,
Christinia Erdlen, will apply for
a marriage license today.
"I'm afraid I'm headed for the
altar again," said the silver
haired asbestos heir who has 10
marital misses. "I shouldn't be
afraid after all my experience,
but one gets cautious."
Tommy has been so cautious
that he's been a bachelor for al
most two years. But he plans to
end all that next Monday when
he makes brunette Christine his
bride.
