I960 PAGE B A 4-H NEWS PIONEER BEEF, SHEEP CLUB The first meeting of the Pioneer Beef and Sheep Club was called to order by president, Verne How ard. There was a discussion about the money left on hand which is $3.60. It was decided to leave the money An the treasury. A general discus sion followed. The officers for the new year were elected. The new president is Lee Holliday; vice president, Glen Howard; secretary, Linnea Sund quist: and news reporter, Mary El len Hess. The schedule of the meetings for the new year was made. It was decided that we would weigh the calves on the second Saturday in each month. It was decided that the meetings would be on the sec ond Thursday of each month. The next meeting was decided to be at the home of Mary Ellen Hess on January 14. Mary Ellen Hess, News Reporter Club Operator 'Locates' Funds WHEELING, W. Va. (AP)-The right club operator plunked down a $1,000 bill to go bond for a waitress. Gus Kougendakis insisted that the cops change it so he could pay a $104.50 bond Tuesday. Policemen, instead, called Jus tice of the Peace Carl J. Fisher. Roused from his sleep, the justice told them to hike the bond to $1,000. That did it. Gus fished in his pocket and came up with $104.50. Plan Group Slate Listed Zone changes and consideration of subdivisions will form the agen da for the City Planning Commis sion when it meets on Tuesday, January 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers. The agenda includes: 1. Arterial plan. 2. Central business district study. 3. Request from Vernon Scott to change zoning of lots 1, 2, 3 and 32, Block 310, Darrow Addition from R-5 to R-5a to permit con struction of an apartment build ing. 4. Final plat of "First Addition to Moyina" which was filed De cember 30, 1959. 5. Council Resolution No. 1021 providing for urban planning which was adopted December 21, 1959. 6. Preliminary subdivision map of a resubdivision of portion of Grace Park by Bob Kennicott. 7. Survey for paving unit in Old Orchard Manor. 8. Request from Dr. Frank John son to change the zoning of por tions of Blocks 7, 8 and 9, Dixon 2nd Addition from R-5a to C-l to permit construction of a medical clinic. TAXING DAY YEOVIL, England (UPI) - A court refused Wednesday to lower the tax evaluation on the Earl of Poulett's 500-year-old, 77 - room ancestral home despite the Earl's plea that the roof leaks, the heat ing system is broken, the pillars are crumbling and the walls are falling down. Grandparents arc Mr. and Mrs. Flay Snyder and Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidli, all of Osceola, Missouri, Public Card Party, last in a se ries of three, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Janury 9, in the Chiloquin Masonic Hall, There will be prizes and refreshments will be served. Mr. and Mrs. Don Harper and children, Sheila and David of Fair field, spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Boguc of Etna. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rogers, NJ Governor Eyes Top Post TRENTON, N.J. (AP) New Jersey's Gov. Robert B. Meyner today joined the ranks of favorite son candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination. State Democratic leaders agreed at a meeting Tuesday that New Jersey's 41-vote delegation to the party's national convention at Los Angeles next June would support the governor. National Committeeman David T. Wilentz of Perth Amboy, spokesman for the group, told a news conference he considered the 51-year-old governor a serious candidate. Tulelake, have returned from Sun Francisco where they spent week. While there, they enjoyed the East-West game. Jim Porterfield, who has been in Bonanza for the holidays, has returned to Stanford University to continue his studies. His parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Porterfield, are enjoying a vacation in the south. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Branson and family of Etna, accompanied by Mary Ann Hurlimann,- Etna, recently were visitors of his neph ew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Patterson at Cranncll. Mr. and Mrs, Rusty Robertson of Bcaverton spent the holidays at the home of Mrs. Robertson's sis ter and family, the Bill Macys of Newell. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Allcto, Chico, spent the holidays with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Masters of Etna. Don Brisscnden, student at San Jose State, has returned to his studies after spending the holidays with friends and relatives at Tule: lake. The Brisscnden family lived at Tulelake before their move to San Jose. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harvey and son, Glenn, spent Christmas at Los Molinas with their daughter, Mrs. Louis Brunncmer, and fam- ly. They returned to Summer Lake to attend to business affairs. The elder Harveys returned to Los Molinas for the winter and Glenn remained here to operate the ranch. Mrs. Jumps Bogue and family ot Etna have returned to Etna from spending the holidays in Fairfield with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Hite Looncy. Boguc remained in Fairfield for a longer visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George McGee and son, Eddie, of Riley were overnight guests of her sis ter, Mrs. Dean Cannon, and fam ily recently. The McGces enter tained a large group of friends at dinner .New Year's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Jnnn Luscombe of Ecnd were weekend visitors at the home of Mrs. Luscombe's mother, Mrs. Florence Horn of Bo nanza. Mr. and Mm. Newman Kimcs and family, Klamath Falls, spent the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Kimes' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Foster, Summer Lake. The Kimes left last Tuesday on a trip to San Francisco, returning after the New Year. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Adams and family, Tulelake. have returned from an extended trip to Texas where they visited Charles Heitz. Daughter, Faye, resumed her dancing classes last Saturday at the Heitz apartment at Tulelake. Detinar Hand, Summer Lake, spent Christmas in Klamath Falls with his wife, Joan, and two sons and .parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hand and family. He brought the boys and his brother, Kenneth, back to spend a week. The Virg HiiiTons, Tulelake, at tended the East-West Game at San Francisco January 2. Mrs. Celia MeElllgntt came from Portland to spend the Christmas weekend with the Jeremiah O'Leary family at Summer Lake. She is the mother of Mrs. O'Leary. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Burton and Rayford Murphy of Callahan were Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tickner. Etna. The Harry Hundley Family, Newell, returned home last Mon day from Texas where they spent the holidays visiting Mrs. Hund ley's parents. Bonanza Home Extension Unit will meet at the library Tuesday, January 12, at 10:30 a.m. Soup making will be the project and the leaders are Phyllis Reid and Eve lyn Valentine. Lunch consisting of soups will be served and expenses will be shared. Bring table serv ice and soup bowl. Anyone inter ested is invited. Sharon Vincent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vincent of Bo nanza spent several days in Klam ath Valley Hospital recovering from surgery on her wrist and arm. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Patterson and family of Rupert, Idaho, spent the holidays at the home of Mrs. Patterson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sprout, Tulelake. Mr. and Mrs. John Fry and son of Spokane and Mrs. Lorraine Howard and three boys from Corvallis spent the Christmas hol idays with Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Harris at Summer Lake. Because of illness of their son, Steven, Mr. and Mrs. John Loosely, Roseburg, wcro unable to attend. II a y 1 c n e Tucker, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Tucker of Bonanza, -is in the hos pital at Lakevicw seriously ill from a ruptured appendix. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Waggoner and sons of Reedsport were re cent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wooten and fam ily in Langell Valley. Mrs. Annie Romtvcdt of Langell Valley has a new granddaughter, Carol Lynn, born Decenber 29 to Mr. and Mrs. Ben McCracken of Klrkland, Washington. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ben McCracken Sr. of Seattle. Sh has an older brother and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ileiney and family, Newell, are visiting the Bob Woodmans at Yuma, Arizona. Lawrence Burhner, Etna wea therman, reported a low of four degrees above Fahrenheit her last Monday morning.
