Ern Glvan of Bonanza spent several days In Portland with his son, Gordon Givan, and family who havfr moved there from- Santa Bar bara. Mm. Bob Jones and son are visiting wilh her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milburn Burk in Bonanza Recent Visitors in Bonanza and Langell Valley were John Dee Chandler of Los Angeles and Galen Chandler of Lakeview. Jeanine Hartley spent Christ mas in Langell Valley with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill West man. Jeanine is attending school in Eugene. Turlock visitors (or the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Kent and family of Langell Valley. He joined ..brothers from Florida, San Fran- cifco and Ukiah at the home of hi parents. Redding visitors for the week end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ketchum, of Bonanza, were Ronald Ketchum and Carolyn Modene. : Spending a week in Langell Val ley with her mother, Mrs. Ernest Gtaves, was Mr. and Mrs. Gaylon Huff and daughter of St. Helens. Spokane Bank Theft Victim SPOKANE (AP) - "I have a gun," (he note said. "Don't make i sound. This is a holdup. Put all the currency on the counter. Make one sound before I leave and you're dead." John Erlcson, a trainee teller it the First Avenue Branch of the Old National Bank, put -some $1,500 in currency on the counter. Thi? well dressed young robber about 24 said Erlcson jammed it into the pocket of his checkered topcoat. ' Then he turned and walked out, right past the branch manager. The holdup occurred Thursday. A lone robber who escaped with $1,300 in a similar holdup at the same branch four years ago was laler apprehended. 5. S. MAYLON Meets Slated By Baptists Dr. Ernest G. Maylon, D.D. will open a series of meetings in the Bible Baptist Church Sunday, January 3, to continue through Jan uary 10. Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., week night serv ices at 7 p.m. Week day morning services will also be held from 10 to 11. A nursery will be maintained dur ing all services. Dr. Maylon taught school before entering the ministry, graduating from Moody Bible Institute fol lowed by further training at the University of Minnesota and Beth el Theological Seminary. He has held several administra tive offices in Christian work. Dur- ng his last pastorate of 10 years, 23 missionaries have gone into the field. The public is invited to the serv ices. Rally Hosted By Students Sludents of Multnomah School of he Bible, Portland, were hosts at a fellowship rally for the public, alumni, parents of students . and friends of the school December 29 at the Bible Baptist Church. Vein R. Hodges, head of the school's psychology department and Mr. and Mrs. William Forster, graduates of the first class In 1939, were speakers. The program also included slides and a tape record ed tour of campus. Because 65 per cent of the cur riculum is actual Bible study, mot to of the school is "If It's Bible You Want, Then You Want Mult nomah." The three-year course is geared to provide the Bible seg ment of Christian education, and may be terminal or preparatory to further study since Multnomah's credits are acceptable in most lib eral arts colleges. January Seen As Busy Time January will be a busy month for officers and congregation of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church. The Junior Rifle Club will meet at 7 p.m. January 1. He seeks the position now held by Sis Unander, Republican, who will resign in a few days to be come a member of the U. S. Mari time Board. State Sen. Ward Cook ID-Port- land) also is expected to seek the Democratic nomination for treas urer. Gov. Mark Hatfield said Thurs day he hopes to name a Republi can to succeed Unander soon af ter he resigns. Hatfield said he has reached no decision yet. The new treasurer would serve for a year. Hatfield is looking for a man who will seek election to the of fice. Jaross also filed for delesate to the Democratic National Conven tion from the First Congressional District. Rep. Clinton P. Haight Jr. CD- Baker) filed for reelection Thurs day.
