Car Mishap Figures Told CHICAGO (AP) - Traffic aeci dents in the United States killed i.330 persons last month and 27, 140 in the first nine months of this year, the National Safety Council reports. The September toll was the tame as in September 1958, the council said, and the' nine-month toll was 870 more than for the tame period last year. "It isn't much to shout about," the council said, "but at least it's better" than the unbroken increases Jhat prevailed during the first sev en months of the year." Ex-Resident Rites Slated A former longtime Klamath! Falls resident, Walter "Shorty" Foster, 70, died October 28 in Portland. He had been in failing health for the last year. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, at 1 p.m. from the McGinnis and Wilhelm Funeral Home, Portland. Mr. Foster was in the employe of the. Oregon, State Police De partment here for several years. He retired 10 years ago after moving to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Birk, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and Mrs. Maude McClay, mother- ii law, all of the Hagar community, I will attend the services. Mrs. Fos ter was the former Gladys Mc-I Clay; Survivors include the widow, Gladys, Portland; two sons, Rex Foster, Pendleton, and "Stub" Fos ter, serving with the U.S. Army in England; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Karns, La Grande; also seven grandchildren.
