The F-101B'e potent firepower, rockets and Falcon missiles, com bined with its all-weather radar and extreme combat radius, pro yides the Air Defense Command ; GRANGE NEWS TtLKLAKE TULELAKE The Tulana Farms land trade was discussed at the regular meeting of the grange Thursday night, August 11 The group has invited Sherman Wald rip to explain the situation at the next meeting. The date has been changed to September 20 to avoid conflict with the Tulelake Butte Valley Fair. Plans for the grange booths for the fair were discussed. Commit tees were appointed to gather ma terials. Grange members will also gath er farm products for the Siskiyou County Fair at Yreka and exhibits are planned for the state fair at Sacramento. A report was made on the Po mona Grange, recently held at Tulelake. Albert Cedros of Gazelle, Pomona master, presided. Anoth er special guest was District Dcp uty Vayne Ralstron of Greenhorn A discussion was held during the Pomona meeting opposing the li quor license application of the ML Shasta Ski Bowl. It was reported 30 adults and four children attended the dinner served by the grange ladies. Jer ry and Kenny Ternus of Tulelake entertained with accordion duets. It was announced the fifth and sixth degrees would be given in Bedding if there were enough can didates. The next meeting of the Pomona Grange will be held at Mt. Bolivar September 12. with its most effective weapon with which to defend our American okies in the event of a sneak at- ck by a foreign power. The Voodoo interceptor is capa ble of in-flight refueling and em ploys a tricycle landing gear and hydraulically operated retractable speedy brakes in the aft fuselage section. The F-101B also is equipped with a parabrake a parachute stored in the tail section compartment which may be released by the pi lot to reduce the landing roll. At 1:15 p.m. a parade, review and presentations will take place on the aircraft parking apron near the big double hangar. Distin guished guests from the Air Force, McDonnell Aircraft Corporation Hughes Aircraft Company and Klamath Falls will be invited to sit on the reviewing stand. Two flybys are scheduled follow g 'the parade and review. The first flyby, which will include 20 F-101B Voodoos, will be at 1:37 p.m. and the second will be five minutes later at 1:42 p.m. Highlight of the day's program will be a 40-minute aerial and sonic boom demonstration by Don Stuck, chief test pilot for the Mc Donnell Aircraft Corporation, in a F-10IB Voodoo. The sonic boom, created as a plane exceeds the speed of sound and is 10 times louder than the loudest clap of thunder ever corded will be demonstrated 30,000 feet above Kingsley Field at 2:45 p.m. Every effort is made by the Air Force to spare the citizens of this country from being subjected to (his startling disturbance to the greatest possible extent. However, as long as the need exists for con tinuous air surveillance of our country to prevent possible for eign intrusion, sonic booms may be heard from time to time in all parts of our nation. A reception, dinner and ball in the Officers -Cub in the evening will climax the day's activity.
