Tuesday, Julv 7. 1959 PORTLAND IAP) A drive may begin soon to put the name ef Adlai Stevenson on the Oregon presidential preference primary ballot next May, The Oregonian lays. In a Sunday story, the news paper said it had learned thai state Rep. Keith Skelton D-Eu-gene) will either direct the cam paign himsell or help gel it start ed. "Unless I get a positive state ment from Stevenson that he would not accept the nomination. I am determined to go ahead with the petition campaign," Skelton was quoted as saying. Stevenson twice before has been his party's unsuccessful candi date. Several times earlier this year he has shrugged olf sugges tions that he seek the nomination again. On July 17 there will be a field day at West's. All 4-H beef clubs are invited and we will learn to judge some of the calves. There will be prizes given. We will have a tour of our club calves July 12. Parents and club members will meet at Beasley's at 11 and end the day at the Malin Park with a picnic and a meeting. The next regular meeting of the Mer rill Beef Club will be at John D. Moore's July 29. The meeting was adjourned and we were served refreshments by Mrs. Roy Beas ley.
