The president, Ron Pope, called the meeting to order. Mr. Weatherby said he would look at our hogs on Sunday. Then we talked about various things, such as what time we had to be at the fair, how heavy our hogs are. and what we were going to do at the fair. Members present were Roger Weatherby, Betty Pope, Hon Pope, Glynna Weatherby, Danny Duncan, Neil Kniskern, Linda Ingram, David Lindsay and Philip Petrasek. Sharry Sherman, News Reporter Cuba's Gay Gambling Belt Looks Like Ghost Town HAVANA (AP)-The gambling belt that started out a few years ago to become the Las Vegas of the Caribbean is taking on the air instead of one of Nevada's ghost towns. With few toursts, the luxury ca sinos that were thriving a year ago in a cascade of dollars are playing today to lots of empty seats. The outlwk is grim, gam bling operators say. They are hanging on in hopes the start of the next tourist sea son will bring bark the well heeled traveler. The tourist period is best b e t w e -. n Dec. 1 and April 1. The National Tourist Commis sion, with Prime Minister Fidel Castro's support, is running a pro motion campaign. But casino op erators claim the government hasn't done much to help them. They would like to have slot machines. The one-armed ban dits together with personnel termed "undesirable" by the gov ernment were the first to go wh:n Castro allowed the casinos to reopen in February. Operators say slot machines are important because of their appeal to women. The revolution killed the last tourist season and sent the casi nos reeling. They were closed for nearly two months after Dictator Fulgencio Batista fled on Jan. 1. Of nine Havana casinos permit ted to reopen, seven accepted. Two have closed because of no business in the last month the Dtauville and Sans Souci. The five remaining of a multi-million dollar investment are: Habana Hilton, Riviera, Tropicana, Capri and Hotel Nacional. Sheriff Donald McArthur said warrants charging murder would be taken out against Hermit Prit chett Jr., 18: Herschell Elkins. 18; Billy Joe Rolen, 17; and Leroy Gentry. 23, all of Dalton. The Negro, Tommy Dwight, was shot to death June 13 while he was at a fish fry at the home of his uncle, McArthur said. The sheriff said the white youths admitted firing at the Negroes, but they said they svere only trying to scare them and did not know any one had been hit until the next mo.ning.
