T"J 1 ' '15' -IS " " A GOOD MANY visitors from th south get their first personal Impression of Klamath Falls when they cross the Link River Bridge coming into the city. On most days, for most of each day, the bridge is lined with vacationing Icids trying to tempt fish from the world's shortest river within a city limits if not the world's shortest river, period. Most of the available treasures are chubbies, which are fine for the sport. But a few young anglers manage to produce rainbow trout, a real priie. Herald and News photographer Don Kettler stopped by the bridge to record the summer scenes tiere. In the large photograph at lower left, Ralph Warner, 13, 1022 Lytton Street, has moved just up the river from the bridge on the south side. Conger Street lies behind the trees across the river in this setting remarkable for anybody's eity limits. Views of how it's done are provided in the top row. At left, Kathv Kirkovics. I l-vear-old visitor from San Mateo. California, sees ho , Mara Maloney, II, 1962 Manianita Street, baits a hook. In the next pie- ture, results are Ueing hauled out of the river by Jerry Blankenship and Gary ? Valentine, 12-year-olds who live at 2414 Eberlein Street. The products of Ralph Warner's expedition to the river's edge are shown in the-third phots t from left. A very commendable catch. In the last photo above, Bill Godsey, 12, a visitor from Oakridge, Oregon, leans way over the bridge while Jim s Drew, II, 1759 El Dorado Boulevard, tries the extended arm technique. In the center picture, bottom row, young Drew has moved beneath the ' bridge to try the f'xh in that corner. The last photo shows what Godsey was ' leaning over for in the shot above. Admitting his catch is Ken Dugan, 1405 El Dorado Boulevard. .i REVENl'ERS CAl'SED IT j TEL AVIV, Israel VPI A man accused of heating his wift while she slept told police Thurv day It was unintentional. He began his testimony before the Senate Com merce subcommittee by demand Ins three or four hours to state his case. The chairman. Sen. John 0. Pas tore (D-RP. told him: Five Boys Shot By Neighbor "If your testimony lakes 15 hours, you'll be given all the lime necessary. But no man is going to threaten this committee." Daly did not take 15 hours or even fhree or four to testify, but he did talk at length. He men lioned. among other things, that he received only two voles in the election for mayor and that he plans to run for president in lfl. Daly electioneered lor mayor wearing an Uncle Sam suit and sporting a big sign marked "per ennial candidate." He demanded that a Chicago TV station devote as much time in its news programs to him as it did to the Republican and Democratic candidates. The station refused, hut the Fed eral Communications Commission later ruled that under present law Daly was entitled to as much time in newscasts as any other candi date. Despite a plea hy Ally. Gen. William P. Rogers and comment hy President Kisenhower that the ruling was ridiculous, the FCC stood by its interpretation of the law. Congress has been asked by ra dio and TV network officials to ohange the law. The networks said tie FCC ruling makes news Dalai Lama Okays Parley MUSSOORIE.
