television reporters. Dyrol Burle-
on, Oregon freshman miler who

"At first I thought they were
kidding," Kuehl said, "but then
I figured there was nothing to
lose."
It wasn't -exactly his first man
aging venture. Kuehl, a resident
of La Habra, Calif., recalls that
at 15, he ran a winning semi-pro
at Huntington Park, Calif.
"Sometimes I can hardly grasp
the responsibility of the job," h
says, "but it's something I've al
ways wanted to do.
"You have to have that little bit
extra to get to the top in base
ball, and I did not figure I could
make it playing so thought I
would give managing a try." .
