Sen Richard L. Neuberser ID-Ore). Rep. Charlea 0. Porter laid in letter to Dav Epps. Oregon state Democratic chairman, that Neuberger'a record "clearly en tities mm to reelection. Porter took note of the feud he tween Neuberger and Oregon's senior Democratic senator, Wayne L Morse. He told Epps: "Usually I agree ith Wayne Morse, but not this time. History will, I predict, cite Wayne Morse of Oregon as one ef our nation' outstanding sen ators hut will record with regret his animosity toward his col league from Oregon. "The truth is that their political beliefs and their votes on the basic issues before the senate are substantially the same. "Nobody, certainly not Wayne Morse, expects or wants any member of the Oregon delegation to be i rubber stamp for any euier member. This included Cavalcade Moves West CASPER, Wyo. fAP)-The On to-Oregon Cavalcade of covered wagons moved west today from the Bill Crane homestead in the heart of Wyoming's remote Sweet water County. The wagon party camped Thurs day night at the site, some 60 miles northwest of Casper. Nearly t.nnn persons, mostly ranchers from as far as 100 miles away, came Wednesday night to see tne wagon party, camped at famed Independence Rock It is a landmark of the old Oregon Trail, which the centennial group is louowing. Fairclaw found that the dam in eluded trees IB , inches across felled by the ambitious beaver. Hr did what he could to dissuade the builders, but his efforts weren t paying off. Somebody suggested that Fair claw hang a lighted lantern at the dam, in the hope it would discour age the heaver. The beaver blew nut tha light and went right on builcline. Finally Jack Thomas of the State Game Commission moved in with a live trap. Thomas' first catch was a Red Tailed Hawk, hut later he came up with more desirable prey, two heaver. This may be the end of it, and again it may not. TB Leader Slates Talk Kenneth C. Ross, executive sec retary of the Oregon Tuberculosis and Health Association, will he guest speaker at a meeting of the Klamath County THA Monday, June 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Wi nema Hotel. A no-host dinner will be served. Subject of Ross' talk will be "A view of Life and Health in Asia to he illustrated with colored slide photographs he snapped while on tour of India as National Tuber culosis Association representative last year. Ross used to be a training ad ministrator with the NTA in New York. He came to Oregon in 1950 and joined the staff of the state association as health education con sultant. He received appointment in 1951 to the post he now holds. He holds a master of public health degree from the University of Cali fornia. Mike, who is sponsored by the Lakeview High School - student body with the support of .other local organizations, will have the privilege of spending a month each with two different families in Ger many. He left Portland on June 12 following a view of the Centennial Exposition, in a group of 47 stu dents from the Northwest who are all traveling to Europe under the AFS program. On board the Vista Dome of the Northern Pacific they will have an opportunity to visit various cities of interest' on the way. including Chicago and Wash ington. D C. Mike sails from New York on June 18 on the SS Zuider kruis, a Dutch line ship, and will disembark at Rotterdam, Holland. His return trip will be by airline from Germany to New York and the Canadian route by train to Portland, reaching home the first week in September. Both of the German host faml- GIFT EXCHANGE GENEVA (UPI) Mrs. Mary Herter, wife of Secretary of State Christian Herter, and Mrs. Lydia Gromyko, wife of Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko, have exchanged gifts It was disclosed today. Mrs. Herter started it off with an unidentified gift, informed sources said. Mrs. Gromyko re turned the gesture with a bottle of vodka, a wooden box full of Russian candy, and a book about the Soviet Union. lies speak English, which will al leviate a language problem for the American youth. Neff is an engineer and the family enjoys traveling in a modest, comfortable manner. They own a car and have a small weekend house near the famous Black Forest, and mineral springs. During August Mike will be with the Dr. and Mrs. Ernst Morgen roth family. The family consists of daughter, Elizabeth, 11. who is a univei'sity student, and a son. Hartmut. They live at 708. Kessel str, Enger, which is a small' city in Westphalia. Germany. The fam ily is well-to-do. with versatile in terests. The young people have a car available two days of the week. Thus, the Lakeview lad will have an opportunity to see both small and large city activities. Mike is 17 years old and will be a senior at LHS next year. His interests and hobbies include bowl ing, swimming, skiing, hunting and fishing, basketball, football track and baseball, art, dramatics and dancing. He has spent four years in Boy Scouts, five years in the Junior National Ski Patrol, five years in first aid and life sav ing under the American Red Cross program. He has been member of the Lakeview Swim Team for five years, belongs to the LHS chapter of the National Honor Society, the LHS chapter of Thes pians, has participated in high school sports for three years, in the American Legion and Babe Ruth baseball program for four years. He is active tn all nu church programs, and has had; several years of paper route ex perience. I He was picked on the basis of scholarship and citizenship to par-! tidpate in the National Range Con servation program.
