Beu lah Elliott onened the meet ins with an inspirational talk and a poem called "The Teacher's Pray er." Annual reports of committees and officers were given during the business meeting conducted by Mrs. Willard Cedarleaf. Mrs. Jean Smith gave the his torian's report for the year and Mrs. Marcaret Saunders and Mrs. Shirley Mayhew gave the group reports on the state convention of parents and teachers in Corvallis. The room mothers who served throuch the year were honored and presented with certificates by the teachers whose room they served. Harvey Denham and Stan Sev- ruk were presented with gifts from the group for their help and co operation during the year. Mrs. John Put man in stalled the new officers for 19.79- 19fi0 at the final meeting of the PTA for this year, held on May :0. Mrs. Al Schmeck's Cub Scouts led the flag salute and special awards were given to Beverly Ly ons and to Cheryl McLane for out standing work in forest conserva tion. The PTA members presented Principal John Heyden a check for $100 to he used as a gift for the school. The school history for the year was read by the school his torian. Mrs. Joe Toney. The room count was won by John Heilbron ner's sixth grade. Folk dancing and choral enter tainment was provided by sixth grade classes. Refreshments were served by mothers of fifth grade students in the cafeteria. LAKEV1EW The final assem bly, during which awards earned during the year were given to Lakeview High School students. was held Friday afternoon in the school auditorium. Names of the two top students in the senior class, Steven Mc- .Seal and Toxie Risley, will be engraved in the scholarship cups. It was announced that Charlcia Lantz had been granted the state tuition scholarship and Susan Ju- lier was awarded a scholarship to Lewis and Clark College. The citizenship award was granted to Charlcia Lantz and Melvin Adams, two members of the graduating class. Alice Lovell was named for the home economics senior award. In the' Future Farmers division, the state farmer degree grant in cluded Bernard Busic and Jim Nelson: Doug Tracy was named star chapter farmer; Elmo Angele, the scholarship award, and Bili Richardson, for soil and water management. Lee Davis received the Rotary Club award as best farm mechanic. , Other awards made were: La- vonne Kratz and Mike Fossum, chorus: Susan Julier, band: Charl cia Lantz. most improved in band; Lavonne Kratz for year book editor; Molly Fletcher for year book manager and also out standing Viking. An electric fry pan was given to the honored guests. Re freshments were served to about 45 people. Marilyn Cook accom panied them to Tulare to visit lor a week with her friend. Rebecca Swinney, and will return to New Pine Creek when the Swinneys come for their furniture. Mr. Swinney will be elder of the Mis sionary Baptist Church in that city.
