The Grizzlies and Pelicans are slated for the usual SOC twinbill beginning at 12:30 p.m., the first game the only one to have any ellect on standings. Tuesday afternoon the Pels saw a 4-0, five inning bulge over the league champ Mcdford Black Tor nados dwindle and finally fade into a 6-4 Tornado victory. In the second game with Med ford Tuesday the Pelicans re versed the situation, coming from behind 8-7 in the last of the lifth to count two rues and win a con solation 9-8 victory. In conference action the Pelicans have won three and lost four while in overall play, counting second games with league rivals, they have posted 10 wins against 11 losses. The bulk of the KU pitching chores has fallen on the shoulders of right-handed junior Blake Griggs and left-handed freshman Bob Wilkinson. In Tuesday's action Griggs was relieved by -Wilkinson who was ultimately charged with the loss as Medford knotted the count then forged ahead. Wilkin son then started the second game, weathered a five run first inning barrage only to be lifted in the third in favor of pitcher-catcher John Webb. Webb was credited with the victory. A finger injury sustained by reg ular backstop Dave Saks, in the fourth inning of the Medford clash. may force him to miss the action Friday. Saks, a sophomore, will probably lose two fingernails from his throwing hand because of the injury. The Grizzlies pulled the Crater Comets down into the SOC base ment by whipping the Central Pointers 4-3 Tuesday afternoon. The victory was the first of the season for -the Ashland nine. The last time the Pelicans and Ihe Grizzlies tangled Pel Hurler Griggs hurled a one-hit shutout, opposing pitcher Alan McKinnis belting a third inning to mar his chances for a no-hitter. In the sec ond game the same afternoon. rookie Bob Wilkinson gave up only two hits as the KU club capped the day with a 2-1 victory.
