Ole Bardahl Files Protest CHELAN (API - An official protest against a vote cast by the Miss Thriflway camp for postpon ing the final heat of Sunday's Apple Cup race was filed Tuesday by Ole Bardahl. Bardahl, Seattle businessman who owns the Miss Bardahl, said the Thriftway was damaged at the time the vote to delay the race was taken. "Their vote was an intentional delay on their part to repair their boat to make a later start," the statement Bardahl will submit to the American Power Boat Assn. board of directors read. Miss Bardahl and Miss Thrift way were tied at 700 points when the vote was taken. Miss Pay 'N' Save, the eventual winner, had 800 points. Because of the whitecaps on Lake Chelan a series of votes were taken during the afternoon. Each time the vote was 5-2 against running the final heat. Bardahl's charge was denied in Seattle by Willard Rhodes, owner of the Thriftway, and Bill Muncey, her driver. "The rule book stales that we had a right to vote regardless of any damage to our boat," Rhodes said. One of the Thriftway's sponsons was damaged by buffeting waves but Muncey said the boat could have been repaired for the final heat.
