This was announced today by v. r. nennouy, nroinernood presi dent, who said notices of thn 1111. ion's demands are being sent to me nation s railroads. He said the demands are based on recommen dations of the brotherhood's wages-rules committee and have been adopted by the union's gen cral chairmen's, association. The BRT, which represents brakemcn, conductors, yardmas- icrs and dining car employes, also is asking that the cost-of-living bonus be added to the basic rates before the 14 per cent boost is computed. The bonus, at present 13 cents an hour, is based on the rise or fall of the cost-of-living Index. The basic rate for conductors under the present three-year con tract which expires Nov. 1 ranges from $18.11 to J19.91 a day and that for brakemcn ranges from $16.39 to $17.83. depending upon the type of service and the area in which they work, a union spokes man said. The rates for yardmas ters and dining car employes vary according to the railroads for which they work.
