Photo by Ellis Yreka Nile Club ' YREKA In an impressive cere mony, Mrs. Harriet Davidson was installed as the new president of Yreka Club No. 11, Daughters of the Nile, during the recent dinner meeting of the organiiation, with Mrs. Gladys Hart of Montague, re tiring president, as installing offi cer. ' Other officers for 1959-60 installed were Isabelle Eiler, vice president; Irene Davis, recorder; Mamie Moore, banker; Pauline Farring ton, sewing chairman; Muriel Allen, convalescent relief and en dowment fund chairman; and Euna Pedersen, chaplain. ' After receiving the gavel from Mrs. Hart, the new- president named the following chairmen: Cheryl Mathews, historian; Ruth Arnberg, recipe chairman; Effie Butler, publicity chairman; and Ella Bryan, to be installed at a later date as sewing vice-chair-enan. . Introduced as the queen's repre sentative was Isabelle Eilcr. Host ess for the year, will be Harriet Davidson. The events of the evening were opened with prayer led by Mildred Long, retiring chaplain, followed by Mrs. Hart, who welcomed all present and expressed appreciation to all her co-officers for the past year. The retiring sewing ' chairman. Dorothy Luce, gave a brief outline on the many items made by the organization during the year, which have been sent to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children in San Francisco. Another activity of the Yreka club has been its Investment in "Stepping Stones to Happiness Cer tificates," the funds being directed towards the care of the out-hospital patients of the Shriners' Hos pital. Decorations for the dinner meet ing and installation event were ar ranged by Margaret Tyler, who chose the Easter motif, using nests of gaily colored eggs at various SUB MARINERS MAUN Sub Mariners was the name chosen bv the newlv or ganized Mariner group of thb Ma lm Presbyterian Community Church which met March 13 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Unruh. Those enjoying the Italian spaghetti potluck dinner at the Un ruh's included Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rajnus, Mr, and Mrs. Don Un ruh, Mr. and Mrs. George Rajnus, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Ottoman and the Rev. and Mrs. Ethen Whitman. points 0(1 the tables. The nest of eggs at the head table had a lady duck "setting" on the nest, dressed in Easter atlire, complete with a perky Easter bonnet perched on her head. The Yreka club will hold its next meeting at the Masonic Temple on Wednesday, April 22. The meeting was closed with prayer led by the newly installed chaplain, Euna Pe-dersen. Eulalona DAR Eulalona Chapter, DAR, met April at the home of Mrs. Arthur H. Denison with Mrs. A. 0. Roen icke, regent, presiding. Guests o( the chapter were Good Citizens Darlene Gaster of KUHS and Sharon i Kafton of Merrill High School. Corsages were presented to the girls and a welcome ex tended to their mothers. Mri. Paul O. Gaster and Mrs. William E. Kafton. The chapter was also happy to have as a guest, Arthur L. Rice, former resident of Klamath Falls and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Victor Herbert's 100th birthday is celebrated this year along with Oregon's. The chapter enjoyed re cordings of Victor Herbert's fav orites played by music chairman Mrs. Raymond Tice. Mrs. Guy Barton and Mrs. Phil lip Brixner showed colorful slides on the DAR National Museum in Washington D.C. The beautiful workmanship of these articles was clearly portrayed by the excep tional photography. hulalona chapter delegates gave a resume ot the recent state so ciety convention held at Gearhart and spoke briefly of their side trips to the Pioneer Mother s cab in at Champoeg and the Newell House nearby which will be of ficially dedicated and opened to the pudiic on jury li. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. A. H. Denni- pon, Mrs. Wade Crawford, Mrs. Raymond Tice and Mrs. Elmer Vincent. Coffee was poured by Mrs. A, o, Koenicke from a .de ughtful coffee urn, a museum piece owned by Mrs. Dennison. The next meeting will be a no- hostess dinner May 4 at the Pen can party room. Past regents will be honored. Information on reser vations will be announced later The Centennial theme will be car ried out by chairmen Mrs. Hugh listes and Mrs. z. w. Dixon. Mrs. H. A. Pedersen sponsored 'The Country Store."' a money making project that will be re pented at the May meeting, con tributions, especially handcrafts. will be gratefully accepted by Mrs. Pedersen. , CARRYALL A carryall for the coffee break is now in stores. BETA SIGMA PHI annually holds banquet at which time each of the five local chapters presents a candidate 'for queen. This year the affair was held at Reames Coun try Club.
