Ranger Tells Visitor Hike LAKEVIEW - Huntcr-use trend continues to increase on the Kre tnont National Forest, according to Clayton Weaver, supervisor, ir a review of 1058 visits on the for est. The total number of visits for the past year was 13(U!'0, as com pared Willi 120,600 for 11157. Of the six ranger districts report- ins, the Warner Dislrict shows the most substantial increase, with Bly and Silver Lake districts also showing significant increases. By use categories, the gains were shown to occur In hunting, where as fishing pressure fell off some ih the forest area. It is believed that -the opening of the sage hen season, ' together with the first hunters choice deer season in the Warner District area accounts for the increase there. Plans arc moving along on schedule, Weaver said, for increas ing and improving facilities to ac commodate present and anticipat ed recreational use. Sonic 40 ta bles, eight toilets, and 10 prc-cast fire grates will he constructed this winter. One well was drilled to provide water at Thompson Reser voir where a new camp area has been constructed, and contracts have been executed to have wells drilled at Deadhorse and Camp bell Lake areas. The Fremont Highlanders, an op erating permittee of the Fremont, has added ah additional rope tow on the winter sporls area about nine miles from Uikcvicw on the Warner Valley Highway. During the summer months Lake view residents and tourists are re minded by the supervisor to visit the newly developed North War ner Viewpoint, reached by way of the North Warner Road, where a very pleasing view of Big Cove Valley can be had fiom this lofty vantage point.
