PORK stars in budget meals if you utilize all the leftovers to make additional hearty,
nourishing meals. Shown is a big platter of Pork Chop Suey in a Rice Ring, using
cooked pork.
PORK. CHOP SUEY
After the holiday season, you
may find yourself pulling in the
reins on that run-away food budg
et. Here s where meals built
around pork dishes fit in.
Whether you choose a roast,
sparenbs, tenderloin, chops or
sausage, pork is an economical
buy this month. For the wise buy
er, this means good eating at a
moderate cost.
Pork has taken oil a "new look"
these days it's leaner. Packers
are paying premium prices to
farmers who bring in leaner, less
heavy porkers. And they are going
one step further and trimming fhc
pork side of all but enough fat
for best cooking results.
When buying pork, look for the
government inspection stamp,
which guarantees wholesomcncss.
Also look for firm pink lean meat
with the new closer trim on the
fat.
Pork has the best flavor when
it is cooked well done- and all the
pink color has disappeared. How
ever, overcooking will cause ox
cessive shrinkage. The use of a
meat thermometer in roasts takes
out all guesswork in cooking the
larcer cuts. Pork should reach an
internal temperature of 185 de
grees.
It's a well known fact to nutri
tionists that pork has higher vita
min B values than other fresh
meats. Thiamine, or Vitamin Bl,
is necessary for the proper func
tioning of the heart, nerves and
digestive tract. High-quality pro
tein and iron make pork valuable
to the diet.

CLEAN LINE
COPPER CLEANER by
Cameo now comes in a
lovely pink cream which
cleans and polishes. It is a
companion product to the
Cameo powder copper
cleaners which has been on
the market for some time.
CAMEO
Copper bottomed pan or solid
copper in the kitchen is lovely
to behold but a little difficult to
always keep bright and shining.
The new Cameo Copper Polish
now on the local market is a pink
cream which cannot scratch nor
mar the surface and cleans and
polishes quickly with just a small
amount of rubbing.
The Cameo powder copper clean
er has won deserved popularity
across the country for cleaning
both inside and outside of copper
and stainless steel pans. The new
cream is even easier to use. It
will clean and polish brass,
chrome, stainless steel and copper.
Follow the simple directions on
the plastic bottle.
Never trust a damp cloth to clean
your clothesline in the winter
months when there is much soot
in the air. Instead, clean it with
steel wool and you will be sure
not to have any dark marks on
freshly washed clothes from the
clothesline.
SOUPS
Add a touch of elegance to winter
soups with generous wedges ot
Wyandotte ripe olives. They are ae
