OEEGON U.S. Observers Invited To See Cuba Executions FARON YOUNG 'Opry' Singer Coming Here Country singer Faron Young, a favorite of the Grand Olc Opry radio and TV and a stage and recording artist, is coming to town. The handsome Louisianan com bines his golden voice with some fancy guitar pickin' to be in the front rank of "folk" singers. He will appear at the Klamath Audi torium on the night of Friday, Jan uary 23. Faron's local fans will hear him ting such favorites as "Coin' Stea dy," "I Can't Wait " "A Place for Girls Like You," 'hn a Chapel in the Moonlight," and "If You Ain't Lovin', Then You Ain't Livin'." This big Grand Ole Opry show features, other than Faron, Teddy and Doyle, the Wilburn Brothers famous Decca recording artists and stars in their own right as well as singer-guitarist Jimmy New man, and many others. The show will last from 8 to 10 o'clock, with dancing from 10:30 to midnight. Tickets are now on sale at the Derby Music Company. HAVAN'A Cuba (API - Fidel Castro said today he has invited 350 newsmen and commentators from the United Stales and Latin America to attend a giant rally called in Havana Wednesday to -how support for his speedy trial and execution of Batista hench men. The revolutionary chief said hi also had invited U.S. congressmen who in recent days have severely criticized the executions ol war criminals by the revolutionary army." A statement from Castro's press headquarters said personal invita Hons had gone out to the loreign journalists. A spokesman said live planes would be sent to Miami to pick up those wishing to attend and another plane might go on to Washington. Court Acquires Right-Of-Way The county court has acquired 12 acres ol right ot way tor a short road extension to be c o n slrucled in tne Bear r lat area just north of the Klamath Indian Reservation. The right of way is a portion of that needed for a five-mile link to be constructed this spring on the Silver Lake 'Lake County) Klamath Marsh Road. Kenneth and Dorothy Emery of Silver Lake were owners of the land involved in the right-of-way transaction. Additional rights of way must be obtained from Weyerhaeuser Timber Company and the U.S. Forest Service, the court said. We have extended the invita tion. Castro s statement said, so that the truth of what is happening in Cuba may be told to all citizens of every country in America. We believe that if the truth is known any misunderstanding that has oc curred in recent days regarain the situation in our country will disappear." Castro has called for a half mil lion Havana residents to turn out Wednesday to back his regime's rejection of foreign criticism of the speedy execution of those con victed of killing opponents of ex dictator Fulgencio Batista. The auxiliary Roman Catholic- bishop of Havana, Msgr. Alfredo Muller. Sunday night endorsed the executions, reported to have reached 207 throughout Cuba. Appearing on a television inter- view with revolutionary chief Fidel Castro, Bishop Muller said he per sonally opposes capital punish ment but lha,l the church permits it in some instances. "In this case it is justified," he declared. Althounh Castro avoided saying when the Havana trials would get under way, he said they would bo conducted under a military code and open to the public. The onetime Stalin peace prize i winner, who has been pressing his I party to break with the Reds since the 1956 Hungarian revolu tion, rammed his motion through - the National Socialist Congress with 273.271 votes, or 58.30 per cent, behind it. A motion by Nenni's rival, ex treme leftist Tullio Vecchietti, to renew the Socialist alliance with the Reds polled only 153,060 votes I or 32.65 per cent. A compromise motion by Lelio Basso got 40,933 votes, or 8.73 per cent. The party also agreed to con tinue opposition to Premier Amin tore Fatifani's Christian Democrat-led government. :- The vote to break with the Communists also placed Nenni firmly in Control of the party machinery. Seats on the 81-mem- ber Central Committee will be allotted on the basis of the votes for the different motions.
