(API Robert Tilton, 79, a bearded ' dog lover, was founS apparently (roren to death in his unhealed shack Sun day. Nine dogs, mostly hounds, were in the shack with Tilton's body Peace Justice Clifford Roberts ordered an autopsy. He said the body "was frozen stiff and Tilton apparently had been dead for sev eral hours." Temperatures had dropped to below zero. Tilton was a familiar figure on Amarillo streets, accompanied by his beloved dogs. (AP)-After a seven-month strike, men are go ing hack to work again at the Edward Hines Lumber Co. mill end logging operations at West-fir. The International Woodworkers of America voted overwhelming ly Saturday lo end the long dis pute. Some men went back to work at once. Full operations are ex nected to resume by Friday. Union members voted 142 to 6 to accept a new contract, which included a 7'2-cent an hour pay increase and hourly pay scales for fallers and buckers. The scale for fallers and buck ers had been one of the biggest issues in the. dispute, for the com pany had wanted to retain them on a contract basis. In all, the strike idled 250 men and prompted the union to file unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board. Alter the new contract was signed, the IWA said it would drop the charges. Cliburn was dropped from the list after he informed the Jaycees his concert schedule would nol permit him to attend the award ceremonies at Fort Lauderdale. Fla., Jan. 17. Boone, 25, previously had to re ject the honor for the same rea son, a Jaycee spokesman said. The latest victim was 24-year-old Bernell Reed Warren, killed when his car overturned 10 miles from Ontario, Ore., on U.S. High way 30 near the Oregon-Idaho border. I Oregon State Police said identi fication papers indicated he was from Caribou County, Idaho, near the Wyoming border. He was trav eling alone. Two small children died Satur day, one of injuries suffered ear lier and the other when she was thrown from a car as two cars collided. Police said Suzanna Page, 8, was killed when she was thrown from a car driven by her mother. Jean Page, 31, of Portland, when it collided with another driven by Daniel T. Kerr, 17, of Eagle Creek. Goldie Sanks, 2, of Monmouth died in a Salem hospital nine hours after she was injured when a car driven by her mother veer ed off a highway near Monmouth, j Four others died previously, onej on New Year's Eve and the other three New Year's Day.
