E. Van Vactor. She was born in Salem, Arkansas, and was the mother of eight children, four of whom are living. They are Mrs. W. A. Hawes, 3703 Butte Street, with whom she has made her home for nine years; Mrs. Fred Richard son of Lamont, Oklahoma; George Pruitt, Klamath Falls; and C. R. Lewis, Argonia, Kansas. She also has 22 grand children, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Merland Phelps served as stage manager. Photo by Kettler SOCIETY AAUW Honors The annual AAUW Christmas party honoring new members was celebrated this year on Thursday, December 11. Chairman of the party was Mrs. E. J. Warrick. During the social hour wich pre ceded the dinner, two of the past presidents, Mrs. William Wales Jr. and Mrs. Florence Pielke, served punch. A candlelight dinner was served to old and new members in the Pelican Party Room. The -clever decorations on the tables and about the':room were inspired by the carol, The Tweive Days of Christ mas." Mrs. Robert Harvey was in cnarge of the meeting arrange ments for the decorations commit tee, which included Mrs. Fred Ehlers, Mrs. Murdo Morrison, Mrs. Richard Newman, Mrs. E. E Howard, Mrs. Fred Foulon, Mrs Howard Hall and Mrs. Ralph Chamberlain. Immediately following the des sert Mrs. Robert Craig presented a vocal ensemble of sixth and sev enth grade girls from Conger School who sang "The Carol of the Sheep Bells," "Pat-a-pan," and "White Christmas. Mrs. Philip Blohm, president, in troduced the new members as each was given a holiday cor sage. A BlG boy for six months is Daniel Edward Robeson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Robeson of Bond. His mother is the former Bonnie Sparks of Bonanza. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sparks, former Klamath Falls residents, now of Tigard, are maternal grandparents. Paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Robeson live in Col fax, California. Holiday Party MERRILL A Christmas gift exchange, birffct dinner and vari ous games highlighted the evening of Wednesday, December 17, at the annual Christmas party of the Merrill VFW Auxiliary. Twenty three members attended the an nual event. Ida Mae Fleck won the cotton ball contest. Judges were Margie Hodges and Bertha McKorn. All the members became contestants n the hula hoop contest with judges Margaret Moore and Roma Walker awarding top prize to Mil lie Fotheringham. A clever song written by Jean Rogers was sung by Jean Rogers and Vivian Miller accompanied by Margie Hodges, ine gilt exchange was conducted by "Santa Claus" Myrtle Ripney. The party chair man was Bertha McKoen. A buffet dinner was served by Marge Waldrip, Margie Hodges, .lean Rogers, Vivian Miller. Vel ma O'Neil and Bertha McKoen. HAZ-B1NS The Haz-bins Christmas parly was held at the home of Mary Wells. After the dinner and gilt exchange pinochle was in play with high score going to Maudie Larson, second to Louis Davis, and low to Mary Eck., The guest prize was given to Lola Truax. Gray, 2307 Biehn Street. Mrs. Berglund and her late husband came to Klamath Falls in 1930. For the past few years she has made her home with Mrs. Gray and in Portland with another daugh ter, Mabel Johnson.
