OREGON County Court, Chamber, Seek Recreation Ideas If VOU have anu iHnaK ahnnl rural areas that would make good u-treauonai developments, the county court would like to hear about them. So would the chamber ot com merce. This invitation comes from the county court, which Wednesday was asuea 10 participate in an interstate resionat recreation in ventory. The State HiohwnV Flpnilrlmnnt on behalf of the Columbia Basin inter-Asency Committee, asked the court for ideas "to promote a more orderly development of our recre ational resources." . What the department wants is a dual report: (1) existing, and (21 potential non-urban areas of rec 1 reational value. Your ideas, however, must be made known soon. The deadline for the report is December 15, set by the highway department. The county court, back from meetings in Reno and Carson City, .Nevada, also reported that the hoped-for contract to construct a Nevada leg of the Winnemucca-lo-the-Sea Highway is very likely to be lot soon. Details are lacking now, but the court was told in Carson City that Nevada fundamentally approved the leg which would join a sec- lion already constructed by Lake County, Oregon. All members of the court Judge Charlie Mack and Com missioners Jerry Rajnus and Ed tiowen. as well as Commissioner elect Robert Walker and Countv -Engineer W. R. Canton attended the Carson City meeting with Ne vada highway officials, and the entire county courts from Lake County and Humboldt County, Ne vada. The Carson City meeting was Tuesday. On the previous Satur day Mack and Itajnus attended a Public Lands Committee meeting of the Interstate Association of Public Lands Counties (an 11-slate organization! in Reno. At that time, Mack and Rajnus said, the committee discussed pending national legislation regard ing the Wilderness Bill, federal plans to acquire additional game reservations, and allowable per centages from timber sales on fed eral government lands. On I riday the court will hear bids from insurance companies hoping to'contract with the county for life arid health policies affect ing county employes. The court said five companies have submit ted bids for the dual program, and a sixth has bid for a life insurance program alone. CITY BRIEFS Oregon State Mothers' Club is 'sponsoring a cooked food sale at 'the Low Cost Market in the Town .and Country Shopping Center to raise money for a scholarship.
