Remove ba con, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and cups finely-diced potatoes and cook until latter arc browned and tender. Remove potatoes and saute in same oil I small squash, diced. 1 green pepper, seeded and diced, 2 onions, minced, and 1 large tomato, peeled and chopped. Pk TU 4-IIII 'Wear-Tear' Tests Run OREGON STATE COLLEGE - A "wearability" testing machine that subjects items of clothing and fabrics to a lifetime of wear in a few hours has been purchased by the Oregon State College School of Home Economics for research and teaching purposes. It is one of only about 20 such instruments in colleges across the country. Called an accelelator, the ma chine has been used for a study on the comparison "wear and tear" of upholstery fabrics and currently is being used for re search on blankets made from wool and acrylic fibers. Next year, the department of clothing, textiles and related arts i? planning a study of the wear- ability of cottons. Research find ings will be published as projects are completed. Research workers include Miss Barbara Buckwalter, Dr. Florence Petzcl and Miss Phyllis Grant. Small samples, rather than en tire garments and fabrics, are used in the tests.
