byterian Church met Thursday af
ternoon. November 20. in the
church social room with Mrs. J.
Walter Browning, president, in
charge.
Previous to the meeting the
group enjoyed a turkey potluck
luncheon with Mrs. Milo Smith,
Mrs. Albert Micka, Mrs. J. Perry
Haley and Mrs. Werner Bunge
serving as hostesses. The room
and tables were attractively deco
rated in a colonial theme. Mrs.
Teresa McComb in an appropri
ate old fashioned dress presided
at the guest book.
Speaker of the day was Mrs. Al
bert E. Ryckman of Tulelake
who talked on "Stewardship of
Thanksgiving" and was introduced
by program chairman. Mrs. Er
nest Gray. The Rev. W. Wattman
of the Tulelake Presbyterian
Church and the Rev. Ethen Whit
man of Malin Presbyterian Church
each said a few words on the same
topic as Mrs. Ryckman.
A trio composed of Mrs. Bertil
Schogren, Mrs. H. W. Bratton, and
Mrs. E. L. Cunningham sane In
Heaven Above" accompanied by
Mrs. Gray at the piano. Another
musical number was the singing of
Natures Anthem ot Praise by
Mrs. schogren, Mrs. Bratton, Mrs
Gray and Mrs. Cunningham ac
companied by Mrs. J. A. Bunnell.
The new association officers for
the coming year are Mrs. J. Wal
ter ' Browning, president; Mrs.
G. C. Blohm, vice president; Mrs.
Loyal Loveness, treasurer; and
Mrs. Gerald Brown, secretary.

ALTURAS The Seventh-day Ad-
ventist Church honored the press
at a mid-morning session Novem
ber 22, when the press secretary,
Edward Sanders, displayed a bul
letin board with some of the clip
pings of the church work done in
the Modoc County area and ex
pressed appreciation to Robert L.
Sloss, editor of the Modoc County
Record, and to Mrs. Ora H. Dem
ick, reporter for the Herald and
News and columnist for the Modoc
County Record. Sanders, in behalf
of the church presented gifts to the
members of the press.

The Chapel Choir of the Golden
Gate Baptist Theological Semi
nary of Berkeley will present two
programs in the 1958 fall concert
tour, Saturday and Sunday, No
vember 29 and 30, at the First
Baptist Church. 414 North Eighth.
The Saturday program will begin
at 8 p.m. The Sunday pro
gram will be during the morning
worship service, 11 o'clock.

all three major areas of the semi
nary program, music, education,

Baptists of the Klamath Bap
tist Association will gather Mon
day night, December 1, 7:30 p.m.,
at the First Baptist Church of
Tulelake for their annual "M"
Night program, according to Rev.
W. B. Russel, training union di
rector of the association.
"M" Night, as the meeting Is
known, is an annual affair among
Baptist churches, as they meet
and plan together for the mobili
zation of the training unions of
the local churches for the coming
year. An attendance goal of 250
has been set. In the event that the
roads are too icy lo travel to Tule
lake, the meeting will be held at
the Stewart Lenox Baptist Churcn.
Throuehout the Southern Baptist
Convention, it is expected that
there will be a total attendance of
500,000 at the "M Night meet
ings across the nation.

training union organizations of the
churches has grown out oi a neca
to inform and train people on the
meaning of church membership.
It has proved to be a vital as
snt to the churches in the conserv
ing of the evangelistic efforts of
every church which has an or
ganized and functioning training

REVEREND TO SPEAK
Hie Rev. A. O. Brovles will be
the speaker at the 11 a.m. worship
service of the American Baptist
Church on Sunday, November 30.
His sermon topic will be, "A Look
Inside the Sky:" He will continue
to fill the pulpit until a regular
pastor is called. Sunday school is
at 9:45 a.m. The church meets
in the Shasta Elementary School.
