Sweek whose engagement was recently announced by Mrs. Nieves Ma rian, 2250 Reclamation Street. The bride-elect graduated from KUHS and attended Oregon State College and South ern Oregon College. The bridegroom-to-be, son of Homer Sweek, 147 Alameda, graduated from KUHS and is attend ing Southern Oregon College. The wedding date is set for December 21 in the Klamath Lutheran Church. Moore, 42.i5 Freida Avenue, hecame the bride of Laurie Gerald Houck in The Federated Churches, Presbyterian Consregation,al, in Corvallis Sep tember 20. The bridegroom is the on of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald W. Houck of Tuscnn, Arizona. Dr. E. V. Warrington officiated at the double ring ceremony at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Mr. Moore escorted his daugh ter to the altar which was dec orated with white stock tied with blue bows to candelabra holding blue candles. Tall baskets of glad- lbli stood on each side of the al ar. The bride's gown was of white nylon lace with a very full floor length skirt. The fitted bodice fea tured a scalloped neckline and THE ENGAGEMENT of Charlotte Christine Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Brown, 3901 Bristol Avenue, to Robert Gene Dixon was recently announced at a party given by Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Dixon, parents of the bridegroom-elect. The bride-elect graduated f r o m KUHS in 1958 and her fiance in 1955. He attended Uni versity of Oregon and was affiliated with Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Both are now attending OTI. No date has been set for the wedding. Photo by Ellis THE BETROTHAL of Mary Catherine Barker to Charles William Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Mason of Hutchinson, Kansas, has been announced by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Altson,, 634 Owens Street. The bride-elect is a senior at KUHS. Her future husband is residing in Em pire, having been recently discharged from the Navy. Both young people plan to attend OTI next year. Their wedding will be an event of December 28 in Reno. Photo by Miller-Williams Eugene Chapel Wedding Scene RAINBOW GIRLS CHILOQUIN The Rainbow Girls assembly in Chiloquin were hosts at a Halloween party held Fri day night, October 31, at the Ma sonic Hall. Guests enjoyed an hour of games which was followed by a costume judging and dancing. The hall was attractively decor ated with corn stalks, pumpkins, lighted jack-o-lanterns, and crepe paper. A cake shaped and dec orated like a scarecrow centered the refreshment table'. MOTHER HONOKKD LANGELL VALLEY Mrs. John Sullivan entertained at her home October 28 with a luncheon honor ing the birthday of her mother, Mrs. Nellie Quick, who is visiting from her home in Tacoma. Guests included Mrs. Mae Gale Mrs. Lc land Harris, Mrs. Lloyd Gift, Mrs. George Fernlund, Mrs. Lu Pcn ner and Mrs. Ted Albert. ALTURAS Sandra LaVelle Pap pel became the bride of James Bruce Gilliland, son of Mrs. Paul Everly of Alturas, at the Rose' light Chapel in Eugene recently, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pappel of Eugene. Sandra Springer was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sherly Ann James and Mary Jo James Lisa Gentry was flower girl and Randy Penner acted as ringbear er. Lloyd Penner of Orland served as best man for his brother-in-law. Larry Gilliland, brother of the bridegroom and James Pappel, brother of the bride, were ushers. The young couple are at home in Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, Washington. urcii short sleeves. A pearl tiara held a shoulder length veil of lace bor dered nylon net. She wore lace milts and carried white orchids tied with blue rjbbon streamers. Barbara Moore was maid of hon or for her sister and wore a bal lerina lencth .frock of blue nylon chiffon with matching headband. She carried a bouquet of white orchids and Rex begonia leaves. Best man was Malhew J. Nada kavukaren, an exchange student from India. Gail Packard, Haidar S. El Haidari and George Kuhl man served as ushers. Mr. l.l Haidari is from Iraq. Wedding music was played b Alice Jane Craig, who also ac companied William Fore who sang "Because" and "The Lord's Pra er." For her daughter s wedding Mrs. Moore chose a dress of royal blue jersey. Her corsage was of white rosebuds. A reception in the church par- ors followed the ceremony. The iered wedding cake was served by Mrs. George R. Hyslop and Mrs. Sumner lmhoff who were the bride's housemothers at Oregon State College. The bride s aunts. Mrs. 0. O. Caster and Mrs. K. h Culhertsnn. presided at the cof fee services. Mary, Margaret and Martha Packard were in charge of the gift table. The guest book was passed by Mrs. Ruth Packard For traveling the new sirs Houck wore a blue wool dress with matching jacket fn which was pinned the orchids of her wedding bouquet. Her accessories were black. After a wedding trip along the Oregon coast the newlyweds are living at MVi South JSignth street n Corvallis where the bridegroom is studying for his doctor's degree at Oregon State College. He is a graduate of University of Arizona. The bride is a graduate of KUHS and Oregon State College. Out-of-town guests to the wed ding were: The bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. L. -W. Ncw- on and children of Roseburg; Mrs. Jessie Mason, grandmother of the bride, from Medford; Mrs. Ethel Olson and Mrs. Doris Zim merman of Portland: Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Aveline, Klamath Falls: Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Stevens and family, Rogue River: Mr. and Mrs. V. T. Wilson and Mrs. Anna Langley of Grants Pass. Pre-nuptial affairs honoring tne hride included a suprise shower given during the summer season hy employes of Crater Lake Lodge where she has been employed for five years. On Sentemher 11 Mrs. Robert Aveline entertained with a miscel leneous shower at her home on Division Street. Twenty two European countries are repre sented by figures dressed in the native costumes of each land. The collection was started six years ago when a Maori doll was sent by Mrs. Brooks' pen pal from New Zealand.
