OREGON PAGE THREE Jaycees, Merchants Group Planning Christmas Parade 'The Klamath Junior Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Klamath Falls Merchant Associa tion, is organizing a Christmas parade to be held December 6 in conjunction with the opening ot the Christmas shopping season. Theme of the parade will bo "The spirit of Christmas," and entries are solicited from indi viduals, groups and businesses throughout the Klamath Basin. The parade will form at Second Street and Klamath Avenue, and move otf at 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Awards for entries adhering to the theme include a $150 grand prize for the best all-around entry, a first prize of $100 for the best float, a second prize of $75 for a float or group, and a third prize of $25, also to be awarded to a float or group. In the judging, the theme will count 50 per cent, origi nality 20 per cent, and artistic composition, workmanship and public response, 10 per cent each. Anyone interested in entering a float, a musical or marching group, or another type of en try, should fill in the entry blank below and mail to the Klamath Jaycees' Parade Chairman, P.O. Box 407, not later than December 3. Klamath Falls, Oregon C Of C Chief Gives Talk "Industrial Growth and Develop ment of Klamath County" was the subject of a talk given by R. Frank Tucker, to the Inter Agency Council at the regular monthly meeting. November 5, at the YMCA. Tucker, manager of he chamber of commerce, brought out the relationships of past and future population, growth of the school, housing, road, hospital, and industrial facilities of the area. President Jerry Thorne presided at the business session of the meet ing and told of plans for the Christ mas Clearing Bureau. New members and guests in troduced were G. S. Vergeer, city manager, Beverly Eels and Millie Phillipi from the Klamath County Health Department. ', Representatives of public agen cies are invited to attend the Inter-Agency Council luncheon meet ings which are held at the YMCA the first Wednesday of each month. RICHARDS Participation in Drive Told The Seventh Day Adventist Church of Klamath Falls partici pated in the world-wide offering of all Adventist churches on Octo ber 2 which is used to sponsor the Voice of Prophecy, an interna tional radio program and free Bible correspondence course, con ducted by H. M. S. Richards. The total offering amounted to $150,000, according to Elder Keglcy of the local church. The program is heard on more than 500 stations in America and over 200 stations overseas. It is the second largest religious broad cast and is heard over KFLW on Sunday mornings at 10 o'clock. Saturday, November 8, the mis sionary program will be given over to Mrs. Don Inman, Chilo quin, and Mrs. Alice Bridges, Klamath Falls, who will tell their experiences in studying the Voice ot Prophecy lessons. ACHIEVEMENT RIBBONS Commander Everett Peery, Air Patrol, will present several stripes indicating rank advance ment and achievement ribbons, to CAP cadets at an award night. No vember 8. Heading the various committees is Mrs. Don Ratliff, general chair man and president of St. Augus tine's Altar Society. The smorgasbord dinner will be served from 6 until 8 p.m. The menu includes turkey, ham, chick en and various salads and des serts. Mrs. Dan Barry, Merrill; Mrs. Jackie O'Connor. Spring Lake; and Mrs. Don Brechtcl, Ma Un. are co-chairmen of the dinner. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Preschool children will not be charged. Cash prizes totaling $200 will be awarded during the evening. Also to be awarded is a 20 inch bride doll complete with nine different wardrobe changes. Hams and tur keys will also be presented throughout the evening. The bazaar also includes sever al booths including a fancy work booth, cooked food booth, fish pond and goldfish and bowls booth. There will bo games to attract all ages.
