Police Locate Near Site Of A California car stolen from a downtown Klamath Falls street was recovered near Dorris Tues daysome 12 hours after its loss was reported. Nearby, officers found a South ern Pacific tamper box which had been broken into. An amazing amount of tools was missing. The two locations were some half-mile apart. John W. Winsell of Redding said he had left his 1052 car near the Pelican Theater at ):30 p.m. Mon day to find a place to eat. At midnight he told police the car was missing. A police network teletype mes sage arrived in city police head quarters at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday say ing the car had been recovered rear Dorris. All four wheels and hubcaps were missing, the mes sage said, and the car had been thoroughly ransacked. Additionally, Southern Pacific Of ficer Bill Warren said the rail road tamper box half a mile away had been entered by breaking a lock. Missing were enough tools to open a car repair shop. The! loot included: Two hand grease guns, four cres cent wrenches, a set of sockets, a set of end wrenches, three mon key wrenches, a set of Allen wrenches, two screw drivers, three box wrenches, a lead hammer and pair of chrome pliers. Officers said the .persons who drove the car into California must have been well acquainted with the territory to avoid the California checking station. Also reported to city police: Lester Stevens, a downtown hotel resident, said he was strongarmed in the rest room of a local tavern at 6 p.m. Tuesday. He said four men accosted him, robbed him of his wrist watch and four dollars, end punched him in the jaw. Four hours later police arrested two brothers in a downtown tavern in connection with the robbery. Winfield Chiloquin, 32. Chuuqu'n, was charged with strongarm rob. bery and Melvin Lee Chiloquin, 28, Chiloquin, was arrested for vagran cy. Other thefts reported: Anton Moen. janitor at the Pas. time, said his pickup truck was broken into Tuesday night but nothing was taken; Fred Francis ef Chiloquin said the wing win dow of his car parked Deiwecn Sixth and Seventh on Main was broken and a suitcase of clothes was taken: and a gas station at Twelfth and Main said various va rieties of oils had been stolen. Two minor accidents were re- fwirtpH: Henry N. Ring, 2104'i South Rixth Street, was cited for follow ing too closely when his car struck the rear of a car which James E. Vague. Robert Zehm of Yakima, Wash inglon, found a wallet on U.S. 97 in miles north of town which po lice are holding for Alice Hood of Chiloquin. The loss had not been reported. Officers said the wallet contained three dollars and per sonal papers. James L. Young. 426 North Third Street, said the left rear tire of his car parked in front of his house had been slashed clear through Monday night or Tuesday morning. Aides Attend Farm Meeting Two directors of the Klamath Lake National Farm Loan Associ ation will attend the annual four state conference of NFLA repre sentatives in Spokane on Novem ber 11 and 12. L. J. Horlon, president of the hoard of directors, announced that Bryant Williams, association secretary-treasurer and Vancil With ers of Paisley, vice president, have been selected to represent the local credit institute at the Spokane meeting. Two delegates from each of the 65 national farm loan asso ciations in Idaho, Montana. Oregon and Washington are expected to attend. Guest speakers will include Frank W. Peck of St. Paul, a mem ber of the Federal Farm Credit Board: Fred W. Gilmore, deputy governor and director of land bank service, Farm Credit Administra tion, Washington, D.C: William J. Holman of Boise, chairman of the 12th district farm credit board; H. E. Ellis, Great Falls, Montana, vice chairman of the board, and Fred A. Knutsen, president of the Spokane Land Bank. RETIRED TEACHERS MEET The Retired Teachers group met at the YMCA on Saturday. Oc tober 18. Special music was fur nished by several of Mrs. fred- ericksons pupils, Barbara Cody. Roberta Pence, Janice Parr and Jerry Ross. A donation to the nurse s association was made in memory of Mrs. Lydia Howard. The group agreed to make the YMCA the regular meeting place. Her family Uses only the last six letters of the 65. iney call her "Piikea." SCOUT NEWS LAKEVIEW CUBS LAKEVIEW - Cub Scout Pack 13 held its annual Halloween par ty in the Arthur D. Hay School auditorium, Lakeview, between 7 and 8 o'clock the evening of Oc tober 30. The boys, dressed in appropriate costumes, enjoyed games and ap ple bobbing. The entertainment was provided by the den mothers and members of the various families were present for the evening. New cubs honored at the party were Keith Castel, Richard Cos- grove, Billy Haugen. David Neal, Gary Moss, Doug Clause, Tony Darst. Eddie DeWitt, Mike Fess ler. Roger Hanagan, David Foster and Kenneth Beeson. New den mothers welcomed into the pack are Mrs. Cliff Haugen, Mrs. Pat Cosgrove, Mrs. Edward Dewitt and Mrs. Don Beeson. Other den mothers include Mrs. Dick Harlan, Mrs. John Blair, Mrs. Jim McDon ald and Mrs. Jim Wiseman. More than 150.000 National Guardsmen served in the Korean emergency as trained and ready citizen soldiers.
