WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER 5. lniiR Law Officers Slate Meet MOUNT SHASTA Heads of Siskiyou County's law enforcing agencies, welfare department, Sal vation Army, Red Cross and other charitable groups will meet with southern Siskiyou ministers Thurs day, November 13, in the Mount Shasta Community Church. The object, as outlined by the Rev. Lee DeSaulnier, of the Evan gelistic Tabernacle, is to eliminate duplication of aid to needy peo ple, and to smoke out repeaters and chiselers. DeSaulnier stales that now there are residents of the area who secure assistance from two or three churches, and then apply for aid from the welfare department as well. This leaves too little for those who need help and are abiding by the law. The sheriff and district attorney will be called into action hereaft 4 when relief abuses are found, but those who abide by the rules will find' relief more substantial than before. Club Slates Scholar Fete The Latin Club of Klamath Union High School will sponsor a scholarship to be awarded to a junior or a senior at the Univer sity of Oregon, who at some for mer lime was a member of the club and majored in education with Latin as the teaching field. An nouncement of the plan was made by Mrs. Helen Hoffman, Latin in structor. Mrs. Hoffman stated that each year more students are taking ad vanced courses in Latin through tutoring and it is anticipated that from these, a number may pursue this study beyond the secondary level. These students would be eligible for the second year of col lege Latin. The recent nationwide impetus given this area of learning has created an even more acute de mand for qualified Latin teachers, with attractive remuneration. To obtain funds for this ven ture, the Lalin Club will sponsor a rummage sale, to be held at the Pelican Theater Building, Novem ber 8 and 11, from 8 a.m. lo 8 p.m. The club sponsored care of an orphan Italian boy through the grammar school grades who now has found a home.
