ALTURAS - TIip Si-vonlh-day
Adventist congrcsalions of Alturas,
Cedarville and Fall River Mills
have pledged $1,154 to the building
fund of a new boarding academy
at llealdsbiirg, California.
The pledge was in response to
an appeal made recently by Elder
J. H. Apigian of Vacaville who
addressed the united congregations
in the Alturas church. The new
academy is to be named Rio
Lindo.
The proposed institution is to be
coeducational and will provide for
330 enrollees annually. Its purpose
as an industrial training school is
to train young people to develop
Christian characters, as the curric
ulum includes studies to promote
the growth of the mental, physical.
social and spiritual abilities of
each student.
CHURCH SLATES RITE
Men and Missions Sunday will
be observed November 0 at the

dist congregations in Canada and
the United Stales this year, many
overseas churches will on this
same day bring their offerings for
world missions. In some areas this
will be produce, peanuts, rice,
chickens, corn meal. The goal of

Knrichment of humanity by the
healing power of Christ. Truth, is
bringing peace, health, and ahun
dance, James Watt, Christian Sci
euro lecturer of Washington,
DC, lold a large audience in Kre-
mont School October 28.
The speaker appeared under
auspices of the first Church of
Christ. Scientist. Klamath Falls,
and was introduced by Vincent
Bousquot, first reader.
During the course of his lec
ture, "Christian Science: The
Healing Science of the Christ," he
relaled healings through purely
spiritual means, of alcoholism, tu
berculosis, and tumor of the brain.
"Because of the availability and
divine simplicity of scientific Chris
tian knowledge, the healing Christ,
consciousness, there is no longer
a mysterious and unfathomable
abyss between us and Cod." Mr.
Watt declared.
In closing, he said, "God, Truth,
is omnipresent and operates
through the spiritual law of har
mony. Health and life are the nor
mal states of man's existence and
arc available to one now, not
through some mysterious interven
tion but because the cver-pres-ence
of the actual law of being
supports one's permanent welfare.
When men come to understand
that life has an immortal basis
they begin to be free of disease,
to be happier, and to live longer."
