Dior Successor In NY; Designs For Women Only By DOROTHY KOE Associated Press Women's Editor NEW YORK AP Yves Saint- Laurent, 22-year-old successor to the late Christian Dior, doesn't care whether men like his clothes or not, just so women wear them. "Consider men? Never! Why should I?" asked the youthful Parisian designer, in New York or the opening of his American spring collection. Idaho (AP) Police arrested a young ex-convict and his pistol-packing, 14-ycar-old wife Tuesday night after a brief gun battle. The man was wounded. Halt Further Work On Dam, Urges Interior Secretary WASHINGTON (AP) - Stopping further dam construction on the middle Snake River was urged Tuesday by Interior Secretary Fred Seaton, who said the area must be preserved as a fish pro ducing area. In a letter to Army Secretary Wilbur Brucker, Seaton said the middle Snake basin up to and including the water shed of the Imnaha River is the key remain ing Columbia Basin area for pro duction of salmon. Triplets Said 'Not Unusual LOS ANGELES (UPI) Shy, soft-spoken Shizue Kondo, 39, childless in 10 years of marriage until she gave birth to triplets this week, said today she saw nothing unusual about such an event. In fact, I don't think there's anything unusual about a woman of 39 just having a baby for the first lime. Naturally, we were sur prised. We had expected one or two but not three. I didn't say anything. I was too surprised, I guess." Mrs. Kondo eni ner nusuano, Yoshio, 41, always wanted children from the time of their marriage, she said. 'About three years ago I had a miscarriage, the petite, pretty brunette said. "We were very sad about it." She said they never planned on having any special number of children just children. The ar rival of the three non-identical girls at Queen of Angels Hospital Sunday within six minutes meant a change in their plans. 'I think we re going to be busy for a while. We recently moved into a new two-bedroom apart ment. I think that we'll have to find something larger soon." Kondo is a landscape gardener who works every available day light moment six days a week. He was at the hospital during the births, which occurred from 12:09 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. The Army Engineers lieved to be considering a number of dams in the area below the Imnaha. These, Seaton said, "would present grave problems for the maintenance and develop ment of anadromous fish produc tion in the area." Seaton urged early adoption of studies . concerning the multipur pose possibilities of sites above the mouth of the Imnaha. Preliminary investigations indicate there arc storage sites of considerable po tential which can be developed now, he said. He recommended that the Army join "in deferring the planning and recommendation of any more dams" in the middle Snake below the Imnaha "until such time as competent fishery authorities agree that the problem of passing fish over high dams, both up stream and downstream, has been solved." Seaton has urged a detailed study of the feasibility of a high dam at the Pleasant Valley site, upstream from the junction of :he Imnaha and Snake, but Congress be-ihas refused to appropriate necessary funds. Seaton opposed a high dam at the Nez Perce site on the Snake, which would be below the mouth of the Salmon River. Alden, who has been in the fed eral prison system 20 years, Tues day was appoinled deputy warden in charge of custody at the new re formatory here. P. J. Squier, superintendent of the institution which will open March 1, made the appointment. Alden has served in federal pri sons at Leavenworth, Kan., and Terre Haute, Ind.
